As of June 2025, Dong Thap province had over 515,800 learning citizens; nearly 445,300 learning families, about 1,130 learning clans, 962 learning communities at the hamlet/neighborhood level and nearly 980 learning units. These numbers reflect the strong transformation of the learning movement from individuals, families to organizations and communities.

Learning is increasingly important.

Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Nhi, residing in Son Qui Ward (Dong Thap Province), is a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry. Her family is in very difficult circumstances. Since childhood, she lived with her mother and brother. When she was 12 years old, her mother died in a traffic accident. Since then, the two siblings had to live with their grandmother. At this time, her grandmother was old and in poor health. Therefore, Nhi's brother was forced to drop out of school to work for hire to support her grandmother and Nhi.

In addition to school hours, Tuyet Nhi also has to work part-time to cover her tuition and daily living expenses. Overcoming difficulties, she always tries to study hard and complete her school subjects well. To give her more confidence and determination, the Dong Thap Province Association for the Promotion of Education in collaboration with sponsors regularly awards scholarships so that she has the funds to continue her studies.

Tuyet Nhi emotionally shared: “Every month, I receive a scholarship. Thanks to that, I can buy books, school supplies and pay tuition. I myself realize that I must try my best to study well so as not to let down everyone and the units that have cared for, supported and helped me during the past time and in the future.”

It can be said that Tuyet Nhi’s story is just one of thousands of cases that have been supported to go to school by the movement to encourage learning and talent in Dong Thap province. A place where the spirit of learning does not stop at school age, but also spreads to every family, every clan, every community.

In the first 6 months of 2025, Dong Thap province mobilized more than 28 billion VND for education promotion. This amount came from contributions from businesses, philanthropists, officials, members and the community. Humanitarian programs such as: "Step up to school" scholarships, building "Learning promotion shelters", supporting poor students to overcome difficulties... were implemented everywhere, from urban to rural areas.

The close coordination between the Dong Thap Provincial Association for the Promotion of Education and departments and branches in the province such as the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Home Affairs, the Women's Union, the Farmers' Union, the Provincial Newspaper, Radio and Television has created a multi-layered, multi-sector learning support network. Enterprises such as Dong Thap Telecommunications, Tien Giang Lottery One Member Limited Liability Company, and benefactors inside and outside Dong Thap province have also actively supported.

In particular, the scholarship program “Step up to school” implemented by Dong Thap Province Newspaper, Radio and Television has been maintained regularly for the past 15 years. Broadcast twice a month, the unit not only provides financial support but also spreads profound human values in the community.

Chairwoman of Dong Thap Province’s Association for the Promotion of Education Dong Thi Bach Tuyet said: “Previously, many families did not care about their children’s education. Now, they have actively registered for “Family Learning” more. Some units have also encouraged households to set up “Community Bookcases” so that adults and children can read books together and exchange knowledge.”

In general, the construction of learning models has had a positive impact on the awareness and responsibility of clans and families in taking care of their children's education; units and communities have paid attention to calling for, encouraging and creating favorable conditions for cadres, employees and people to strive to study to improve the intellectual level of the people, contributing significantly to the success of the movement to build new rural areas, building a civilized and progressive life in residential areas.

Many new learning models are emerging.

Along with traditional programs, in 2025, Dong Thap Province's Association for Promoting Education proactively innovated its activities to meet the demands of the times by launching two new movements: "Digital Education for All" and "Green Education Promotion". This is not only an initiative of the province but also a pioneering step in concretizing major policies on digital transformation and sustainable development of the Government and the Central Vietnam Association for Promoting Education.

Inspired by the spirit of “Popular Education” after the August Revolution, the “Popular Digital Education” movement was launched by the Dong Thap Province Association for the Promotion of Education with the goal of helping people, especially manual laborers, the elderly, and people in rural areas, to become familiar with basic information technology skills.

Through training courses integrated into the activities of self-governing People's Groups and community activities, people are instructed on how to use smartphones, look up information online, and apply useful software to serve production, business, and daily life.

Some localities have boldly built the model of "Digital Neighborhood Groups", initially bringing clear results.

The “Green Education” movement is identified as a new approach to raise awareness of learning combined with responsibility for the living environment. With the slogan “Learning to live green - Learning for sustainable development”, many localities have implemented creative activities, linking education with environmental protection practices.

Typical models include: “Green Learning Family”, “Friendly Green Bookshelf”, “Books for Trash - Clean Learning, Green Living”, “Schools without Plastic Waste” launched in schools and residential areas. Some grassroots Learning Promotion Associations also combine to organize teaching skills in waste classification, recycling of items, planting trees in classrooms, mini libraries, schoolyards, etc.

These models are not only encouraged by the government and the Association for Promotion of Education at all levels, but also receive positive responses from the people. In Cai Lay ward (Dong Thap province), many parents have set up a group "Learning with children - living green with children", with activities such as: Learning life skills together, sorting garbage, planting trees around the house, saving electricity - water...

Chairwoman of Dong Thap Province's Association for Promotion of Education Dong Thi Bach Tuyet affirmed: "Knowledge is power. When people know how to learn and change their thinking, that is the foundation for building an increasingly developed homeland."

Lifelong learning, learning to change life, learning to progress are no longer slogans but have become concrete actions in every hamlet, village, neighborhood and household.
