On November 21, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long province held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Southern Uprising and the 103rd birthday of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet (November 23, 1922 - November 23, 2025).
In a solemn atmosphere, delegates offered incense at the Monument of General Le Can-Nguyen Giao, the Nam Ky Uprising Stele, the Statue of Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong and the Vung Linh Lake Relic.
At the Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet Memorial Site, delegates offered flowers, incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the contributions of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet - an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh , a highly prestigious leader of the Party and State.
Vinh Long Provincial Party Secretary Tran Van Lau emphasized that the life and revolutionary career of comrade Vo Van Kiet is not only associated with great contributions to the Party, the revolution and the people, but is also a shining example of personality and ethics.
With a sharp, sensitive, creative, flexible and practical strategic vision, along with the spirit of daring to think, daring to do and daring to take responsibility, Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
He directly participated in leading the Southern Uprising in the former Vung Liem district and then carried out revolutionary activities on many battlefields in the South. When the country was unified, he took on many important responsibilities, became the head of the Government, proposed and directed the implementation of many policies on innovation and socio-economic development, including many key national projects bearing the "Vo Van Kiet mark."
The Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee called on cadres, party members and people, especially the young generation, to actively study and follow the example of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet and his predecessors, and promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle.
The Party Committee, government and people of Vinh Long province promote the spirit of solidarity, proactiveness, creativity, mobilize and effectively use all resources, determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Party Congress (term 2025-2030), contributing to building the province to develop rapidly and sustainably and enter a new development stage with the whole country.
Continuing the spirit of innovation and breakthrough thinking left by Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, the 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, set the goal of building the province to develop rapidly and sustainably, becoming a center of marine economy, a center of renewable energy, with a synchronous, modern infrastructure system, and seamless connections in the Mekong Delta region.
To achieve the above-mentioned goals, in the coming time, the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh Long province must unite, be unanimous, make great efforts and determination, and strive to synchronously implement many important tasks and solutions such as: focusing on building a clean and strong Party and political system; promoting the role of the people as the main subject, the strength of great solidarity and developing culture and people; developing infrastructure, urban areas, education, health care, environmental protection and ensuring political and social stability.
The Southern Uprising in Vinh Long was one of the few uprisings that achieved results in the Southern Uprising movement in 1940. This was the first armed uprising in the South. Although the equipment was rudimentary, the participating forces demonstrated a resilient fighting spirit, contributing to arousing revolutionary confidence and leaving many lessons on the work of mobilizing the people as well as training cadres and party members.
The spirit of the Southern Uprising is an important historical heritage, adding motivation for the Party Committee and people of Vinh Long to strive to build a locality that is "Loyal, resilient, and a pioneer in innovation"./.
