That spirit is clearly demonstrated in the family of Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Huong, a teacher at Le Loi Secondary School (Pho Hien Ward), a living proof of the power of books in the family. She shared: “My husband was a police officer, died on duty and was posthumously awarded the title of Martyr in 2025. After that loss, I chose books. as a spiritual support to help children grow stronger and more mature .
In the evenings or on weekends, Ms. Huong spends time reading books with her children, turning those moments into warm literary conversations, where the love of knowledge is naturally passed from mother to child. She added: "Now, my family's bookshelf has more than 600 books, neatly arranged by topic, from science, life skills education , literature and unfinished poetry collections of my husband and the yearbooks of my two children." In her role as a homeroom teacher, she also uses her personal money to order books and newspapers for her students to read together, spreading the love of books to many students.

The story of Nguyen Thu Ngan, a student of class 8A1, Luong Tai Primary and Secondary School (Dai Dong commune) also shows the spreading power of reading habits from the family. In free evenings or on weekends, Ngan reads books with her parents and grandparents, turning these moments into a time to bond, share and explore knowledge. She also became a "guide" for her younger brother in grade 4 to get acquainted with books, sowing the habit of reading from a young age. My family is a family of book lovers. In that small house there is always a space filled with books, A cozy family library that grandparents, parents and siblings have built together over the years. What is special is that Thu Ngan's small family library is always open to welcome friends, teachers and book lovers in the village to read and borrow books. It is this shared space that has helped the love of books spread widely, becoming a familiar meeting place for souls who love knowledge. Thanks to her passion for reading, Thu Ngan is not only a good student and active, but also has a deep, kind and sharing soul.

Ngan's family's reading journey is also encouraged and recognized through the province's cultural playgrounds such as the "Family Reading - Connecting Love" Contest organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Ngan shared: “By participating in this contest, my family and I not only get to interact and share our passion, but also have more motivation to maintain and develop the habit of reading. It is also an opportunity to spread the love of books to the community.”
According to Mr. Dao Van Quyen, Director of Hung Yen Provincial Library, family reading models are the "nucleus" that nurtures and spreads reading culture in the community. Family is the first and most sustainable foundation for forming reading habits. When parents, grandparents read books with their children and grandchildren, knowledge is not only received but also spread, helping members connect and develop their thinking and personality. In recent years, the Provincial Library has focused on expanding the network of grassroots libraries, developing community bookcases, mobile libraries in rural areas, schools, residential areas, etc. to bring books closer to people. Reading promotion activities are implemented synchronously, aiming at the goal of building a civilized lifestyle, lifelong learning and forming a learning society in the province.
In the context of strong technological development, maintaining the habit of reading still holds its own value, helping to train thinking, emotions and concentration. Small actions such as spending 15-30 minutes a day reading, creating a book space in the house or going to the library together on weekends... not only foster a reading culture in each family but also contribute to building a learning community, promoting the sustainable development of a learning society.
No matter how fast the world changes, books are still the “silent teacher”, helping each person grow up and each family become more connected. From homes like Huong’s or Ngan’s, the love of reading is quietly spreading, contributing to enriching cultural life, cultivating knowledge and humanity for the people of Hung Yen today.
