Beyond traditional activities, many new, innovative models and applications of digital technology are being strongly implemented, contributing to the widespread dissemination of reading culture in the community.

In response to this year's Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, the Quang Ninh Provincial Library is organizing a series of diverse activities lasting until the end of April. These include the exhibition "Together with Books, We Step into the Era of National Advancement," showcasing 3,000 books, newspapers, and magazines.

Quang Ninh Provincial Library has many practical methods and activities to attract readers and promote a reading culture in the community.

The highlight of the series of activities is the "Reading Culture - Connecting the Community" program on the morning of April 18th, which includes an inspiring panel discussion by speaker Nguyen Son Lam on the topic "Reading - Enriching Knowledge, Nurturing Aspirations, Promoting Innovation and Creativity" and the awarding of library cards to underprivileged students. Alongside this, the "Quang Ninh 2025 Book Promotion Week" provides readers with access to books at discounted prices, in collaboration with 1980 Books, and implements book donation activities for remote and disadvantaged areas.

This is just one of the highlights in a series of programs, continuing the Project on Developing Reading Culture in the Community for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, issued by Quang Ninh province. With meaningful and practical activities, the program hopes to spread reading culture widely in the community. Ms. Bui Thuy Hai, Director of the Provincial Library, shared: “We expect these activities to contribute to improving reading culture and creating a reading habit in the community, not only among young people but also among all segments of the population.”

In addition to these events, Quang Ninh province also organizes in-depth activities such as the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest, the Quang Ninh Book Fair, and the Lifelong Learning Week. Regular book displays and exhibitions, both in-person and online, facilitate the connection of interconnected library networks within and outside the province, expanding access to knowledge for people across all regions.

T-Book book cafe creates an interesting space that attracts many readers interested in books.

Beyond traditional forms, many new and practical models have emerged to meet the increasingly diverse reading needs of readers. Typical examples include book cafes and library cafes, which combine reading, buying, selling, exchanging, and donating books to provincial libraries or those in remote areas.

Book cafes like Dong Tay Book Cafe, Yen Library (Hong Hai Ward), and T-Book (Monbay area, Tran Quoc Nghien Street...) in Ha Long have become popular destinations and spread to many districts, towns, and cities in the province. This model not only attracts readers but also fuels a passion for books among the cafe owners. Ms. Tong Thi Yen, owner of T-Book, shared: “We recognize the special appeal of this model and are planning to open specialized libraries, such as those on history and Ha Long Bay, to better serve readers.”

Anticipating the strong trend of digital transformation, Quang Ninh Provincial Library has proactively implemented many comprehensive solutions to promote reading culture in the digital age. With an area of nearly 10,000m² and a modern IT system, the library possesses approximately 300,000 books, newspapers, and magazines, and more than 2 million digital documents, including 200,000 digitized pages of Quang Ninh's local history, enabling quick retrieval.

Digital services such as online library card registration, online borrowing, and online document retrieval have been effectively implemented. The library also connects with schools and collaborates with tailieu.vn to promote a reading culture. Activities such as digital book exhibitions and online competitions attract a large number of readers, especially young people.

Traditional and innovative solutions create their own "channels" to attract readers.

With synchronized, creative, and humane steps, it is evident that reading culture has become an essential part of the spiritual life of the people of Quang Ninh. These practical actions not only ignite a passion for reading but also contribute to building a learning society, opening up a horizon of knowledge for the future.
