Commencement of construction of a house of gratitude for a household in difficult circumstances in Nam Binh commune (Kien Xuong).

In the early summer sunshine, we had the opportunity to visit the newly completed house of Ms. Bui Thi Dieng, Thuong village, Dong Cuong commune (Dong Hung). On the old land, which used to be a makeshift house of a poor family, now stands a solid house with an area of 40m2. Ms. Dieng was born in 1991, is the main laborer in a family with especially difficult circumstances. Her husband died early, her son has kidney disease, her mother is often sick, all the burdens are on the shoulders of the young woman. The new house was completed with a total cost of 110 million VND, of which the Dong Hung District Youth Union supported 50 million VND from socialized sources. Ms. Dieng shared: I never thought of having a solidly built house to live in like this. Now that I have settled down, from now on I will have less worries, I will try to work hard, raise my children, and take care of my mother to gradually improve my life.

Since the beginning of 2025, Dong Hung District Youth Union has supported the construction and repair of 3 gratitude houses for poor households and union members in especially difficult circumstances in the area. Ms. Cao Thi Hien, Secretary of the District Youth Union, shared: Each completed gratitude house is a great joy, not only for the recipients but also for those working in the union. We believe that from these houses, faith and determination will be nurtured so that people can move forward in life. This is also the way Dong Hung youth spread the spirit of mutual love, sharing, and responsibility to the community.

In Dung Thuy Ha village, Dung Nghia commune (Vu Thu), the new house that was just handed over to Mrs. Tran Thi Mao is a clear demonstration of the deep concern of the Youth Union for the unfortunate. Mrs. Mao is a poor household in the commune, living in a dilapidated, seriously degraded house. For an elderly woman, without a husband or relatives, every night when the rain and wind pass by is a fear. The new house was solidly built with an area of 40m2, in which the Provincial Youth Union supported 100 million VND, creating conditions for Mrs. Mao to live in a spacious house. Mrs. Mao emotionally said: Now that I am living in a new, sturdy house, I am very happy. I feel cared for and protected in my old age.

From 2022 to present, the Youth Union of Dung Nghia commune has coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union to support the construction of 4 gratitude houses for poor households, while mobilizing union members and young people in the commune to support dozens of working days to help them level the ground, transport materials, and build temporary shelters. Ms. Tran Thi Thao, Secretary of the Youth Union of Dung Nghia commune, said: We identify supporting the construction of gratitude houses as not only a social security activity but also an opportunity for young people to demonstrate their responsibility and spread the spirit of humanity in the community. Each completed house is the heart of union members and young people. Through each project, we want to send a message: young people are ready to accompany difficult circumstances, not only with words, but also with concrete actions.

From the beginning of 2025 to now, the Provincial Youth Union has mobilized and contributed nearly 3 billion VND to build and repair 43 gratitude houses with a support amount of 60 - 100 million VND/house. In addition, union members and young people in the province have supported more than 2,000 working days to help households dismantle houses, transport materials... Mr. Thieu Minh Quynh, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: Responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", the Provincial Youth Union has launched the emulation movement " Thai Binh Youth join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, supporting 100 gratitude houses". Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province focus on mobilizing resources to support the repair and construction of new houses for poor households, near-poor households, and households in especially difficult circumstances, helping them stabilize their lives. In the coming time, the Provincial Youth Union will direct grassroots unions to focus on implementing activities to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; calling for mobilizing resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Union cadres at the grassroots level also organized a review of housing of poor and near-poor households to promptly call for socialized resources to support the families.

In each brick, each day of volunteer work is the whole heart of the union members, the youth, who are silently contributing to fostering faith, sowing hope for the unfortunate. With the joint efforts of the whole community and the enthusiasm of the young generation, there will certainly be many more houses built from the hearts and kindness of the young generation of Thai Binh.

Youth union members support the demolition of houses for the subjects.
