In the field of physical education and sports, the private economy , specifically businesses and entrepreneurs, has made great contributions to creating a new look for the development of the country's sports. Resolution 68 is expected to make that flow increasingly stronger in the aspiration to reach the heights of Vietnamese sports.

The value of sports economics

In the world , sports in many countries have truly become a profession in the economic system. And the sports economy is a massive machine, linked to many other service production professions, creating jobs, profits, income, contributing significant taxes to the national budget and creating positive social values.

In recent years, the sports economy in Vietnam has always received the attention and close direction of the Party and the State. After more than 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW, the socialization policy in sports activities has attracted the participation of many enterprises producing goods and providing sports services, including both domestic and foreign-invested enterprises. Many major sports brands have been present in Vietnam, and sports technical facilities have been gradually upgraded and newly built.

However, Vietnam is currently generally considered to be in the “slow development of the sports industry” area. Therefore, it is necessary to learn, exchange experiences, urgently change, accelerate to avoid falling behind and build a “sports industry and economy” that is suitable for policy conditions and socialized resources but must also adapt and keep pace with the development trends of the region, continent and even the world.

Sports economy is not just about sports events. It also involves many other industries such as sports marketing, sports media, sports tourism and sports infrastructure development. According to statistics, every year Vietnam has about 40,000 sports tournaments from professional to grassroots, at all levels. That is a huge number, showing the movement and passion for sports in Vietnam. However, the contribution of sports economy to the national GDP is almost non-existent, most of the facilities and operating costs of sports teams still rely on the state budget.

Awakening the economic potential of sports

Recently, sports economic forums have been continuously organized with the goal of creating "an open forum" to gather valuable views, opinions, sharing and experiences from organizations and individuals on issues related to the management and development of Vietnam's sports economy.

Through the forum, leaders of relevant ministries and sectors will listen to the sharing and comments on major issues in the management, construction, and establishment of the sports economy as well as the sports copyright business sector. This is the way that state management agencies accompany national sports associations to continue to promote the process of professionalization and socialization of sports, thereby building a solid, modern, and open Vietnamese sports economy.

Vietnam's sports economy is facing breakthrough opportunities based on its inherent potential and the world's development trends. And clearly, sports are not only a passion or entertainment, but also a potential economic lever, promoting growth and sustainable development.
