In the field of sports and physical education, the private sector , specifically businesses and entrepreneurs, has made and continues to make significant contributions to shaping the development of national sports. Resolution 68 is expected to further strengthen this momentum in the aspiration for Vietnamese sports to reach new heights.

The value of sports economics

Around the world , sports in many countries have truly become a profession within the economic system. And the sports economy is a massive machine, linked to many other production and service sectors, creating jobs, profits, income, contributing significant tax revenue to the national budget, and generating positive social values.

Over the years, the sports economy sector in Vietnam has always received close attention and guidance from the Party and the State. After more than 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW, the policy of socializing sports activities has attracted the participation of many businesses producing goods and providing sports services, including both domestic and foreign-invested enterprises. Many major sports brands have established a presence in Vietnam, and sports infrastructure and facilities have been gradually upgraded and newly built.

However, Vietnam is currently generally considered to be in a "underdeveloped sports industry" region. Therefore, it is crucial to learn from and exchange experiences, make urgent changes, and accelerate development to avoid falling behind and build a "sports industry and economy" that is both suitable to policy conditions and social resources, but also adaptable and keeps pace with the development trends of the region, continent, and even the world.

The sports economy is not simply about sporting events. It also involves many other industries such as sports marketing, sports media, sports tourism, and sports infrastructure development. According to statistics, Vietnam hosts approximately 40,000 sports competitions annually, ranging from professional to amateur levels. This is a huge number, reflecting the widespread sports movement and passion in Vietnam. However, the contribution of the sports economy to the national GDP is almost negligible, with the majority of sports facilities and operating costs still relying on the state budget.

Unlocking the economic potential of sports.

Recently, numerous sports economics forums have been organized with the goal of creating an "open forum" to gather valuable perspectives, opinions, and experiences from organizations and individuals on issues related to the management and development of Vietnam's sports economy.

Through this forum, leaders from relevant ministries and sectors will listen to shared insights and suggestions on major issues in managing, developing, and establishing the sports economy, as well as the sports broadcasting rights business. This is how state management agencies collaborate with national sports associations to further promote the professionalization and socialization of sports, thereby building a solid, modern, and open Vietnamese sports economy.

Vietnam's sports economy is facing opportunities for breakthroughs based on its inherent potential and global development trends. Clearly, sports are not just a passion or entertainment, but also a powerful economic driver, promoting growth and sustainable development.
