Mr. Nguyen Van Binh from Gia Lam (Hanoi) said: “My company has been buying peach trees from Ngoc Da village for many years. The peach trees here have beautiful shapes and sizes, with large, vibrant flowers. The peach orchard owners also offer rental and delivery services, so every year I order for my company and family.” Currently, Ngoc Da village has over 10 hectares of peach orchards. To improve the economic efficiency of peach cultivation, many orchard owners actively research and learn grafting, pruning, and shaping techniques; and invest in automatic irrigation equipment. Caring for the peach orchards takes place year-round, requiring meticulous attention to detail in each step, such as soil preparation, pruning, and leaf removal. From mid-January to March of the lunar calendar, peach growers focus on replanting the trees immediately after the Tet holiday and begin caring for them to ensure good growth and development. Shaping the trees must be done at the right time and according to their developmental stages. Choosing the right time to remove leaves is considered one of the crucial steps to ensure the peach blossoms bloom at the right time for Tet. During the cultivation process, peach growers must monitor weather conditions to adjust their care methods accordingly. At this time, peach growers in the village have finished potting their peach trees and have begun selling them. According to some gardeners, this year's peach blossoms are more beautiful than last year. Prices for peach trees start from 2 million VND/tree, while peach branches range from 100,000 to 500,000 VND/branch, similar to last year. Mr. Phung Viet Dinh, the owner of a peach orchard, said: “My family has more than 2 sao (approximately 2,000 square meters) of peach trees, of which 70% are bonsai peach trees, ranging from 4 to 20 years old, and the rest are peach trees for cutting. To ensure many buds and flowers bloom at the right time for Tet (Lunar New Year), growers have to put in a lot of effort in the care process. This year, the weather has been rainy, but thanks to proactively monitoring the orchard, the peach trees in my family's orchard have not been affected. Since the beginning of December 2025, many regular customers have called to inquire about prices, pruning times, etc., and have placed deposits. With selling prices similar to last year, I estimate a profit of nearly 400 million VND this year.”
Besides selling trees and branches, in recent years, many gardeners have been renting out peach blossom trees for Tet (Lunar New Year). Rental prices start from 2 million VND per tree, and if the tree is beautiful and has a unique shape, the rental price can reach 10 million VND per tree. Ms. Phung Thi Tuyen's family is a household with many years of experience growing peach blossom trees in the village. For many years, her family has been awarded the title of "Excellent Farmer in Production and Business" for their peach blossom cultivation. This year, her family has received contracts to rent nearly 100 peach blossom trees, accounting for one-third of their total number of trees. Customers are mainly government agencies, companies, and businesses. Rental prices range from 2 to 7 million VND per tree, depending on the type. At this time, Ms. Tuyen has begun transporting the rented peach blossom trees to her customers.
Ngoc Da village currently has about 150 households developing their economy from peach cultivation. From peach farming, these households earn an average profit of 70 million to 400 million VND per sao (approximately 1000 square meters) per year. Furthermore, peach cultivation doesn't require much time for care, so people can take on many seasonal jobs to increase their income. Mr. Bui Van Ky, Party Secretary and Head of Ngoc Da village, said: "Most peach-growing households in the village have relatively good or wealthy economic conditions. Peach trees not only bring economic value to the growers but also create seasonal jobs for about 100 local laborers with an income of 450,000 to 500,000 VND per day. Seeing the effectiveness of peach cultivation, households have also contributed funds to invest in building roads for easier access, care, and transportation. In particular, peach-growing households have actively participated in contributing to the new rural development program." As a result, over 90% of working-age people in the locality now have jobs, over 90% of households in the village have solid, multi-story houses, and the poverty rate is decreasing every year...
The Lunar New Year of the Horse is fast approaching, and for peach growers in Ngoc Da village, the end of the year is perhaps the happiest time of year, because after a year of hard work and care, they are now beginning to reap the rewards. It is expected that this year, Ngoc Da village will supply the market with approximately 10,000 peach trees and branches of various types.
