World leaders send condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

Writing on social network X, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on July 19: "Saddened by the news of the passing of Vietnamese leader, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. We express our respect and deepest condolences, as well as solidarity with the people and leaders of Vietnam at this moment."

The Indian Embassy in Vietnam also informed that Indian President Droupadi Murmu had a meeting with President To Lam, and on behalf of the Indian government and people, sent deep condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also sent his condolences to the Vietnamese people. "The passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has left a deep void. The General Secretary's far-reaching vision for strategic autonomy and promoting good governance in Vietnam deeply impressed me when we met in Hanoi in July 2023," Anwar Ibrahim wrote.

The Malaysian Prime Minister stressed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's vision for Vietnam-Malaysia relations will last forever, and that the General Secretary's legacy will inspire future generations in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.

On July 19, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and sent his condolences to the Vietnamese people, family and relatives of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz also wrote on X, sending his condolences to the family and relatives of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

I send my deepest condolences to the General Secretary's family and the Vietnamese people."
