Setting a record number of Vietnamese athletes participating in VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam

On May 10, in Da Nang City, the 8th season of the VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam 2024 Triathlon (1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride, 21 km run) officially opened. The event was organized by Sunrise Events Vietnam (SEV) with support from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City.

From May 10 to 12, nearly 3,000 athletes from 52 countries and territories will participate in the largest multi -sport event in Southeast Asia, bringing together athletes from beginners to professionals of all ages.

Nearly 3,000 athletes will participate in the multi-sport event considered the largest in Southeast Asia.

At this event, athletes compete for 34 qualifying spots to attend the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Taupo, New Zealand and spots reserved for the top 5 female athletes in each age group to compete at the IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, France.

According to information from the organizing committee, at this tournament, the number of Vietnamese athletes reached a record with 1,532 participants.

This year, a new swimming route and a spectator-friendly running course promise to help athletes set new records.

In addition to the main race VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam, there is also SUNRISE SPRINT Vietnam - a short-distance triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) designed for beginners; IRONKIDS Vietnam with triathlon (swim - bike - run) and duathlon (swim - run) for children aged 5 - 15.

Finally, Newborns Vietnam Run Out is a charity run to raise awareness about the rate of newborns in need of emergency care and care.

After the opening ceremony on the morning of May 10, the organizing committee of IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam 2024 held a press conference.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang City, shared that IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam is a key sports tourism activity and highlight in the series of memorable annual events of the locality. VinFast IRONMAN 703 Vietnam is not only a sports event but also an event to promote cultural exchange and tourism.
