(Baoquangngai.vn) - On the afternoon of October 11, Ly Son district coordinated with Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board and the province's industrial parks to collect opinions from more than 100 households representing 6 villages in the area on the Ly Son Urban Construction Zoning Project at a scale of 1/2000.

The 1/2000 scale Urban Construction Zoning Plan of Ly Son is 1,492 hectares wide, including Big Island and Small An Binh Island with a population of 40,000 people by 2045.

Accordingly, the whole island is divided into 7 main functional zones to control development: Ly Son airport zone and infrastructure, eastern urban service zone, central urban service zone, multifunctional green wedge zone, western urban service zone, northern tourism and service zone and Be Island zone.

It is forecasted that by 2045, Ly Son will welcome about 2.5 million tourists. About 20 hectares of land will be allocated for resettlement when implementing the planning. The fresh water supply system ensures daily life and production on the island, waste is packaged and transported to the mainland for burial and recycling.

According to the planning project, tourism will become an important economic sector in the general economic structure with a synchronous tourism infrastructure system; high-quality, diverse, branded, environmentally friendly tourism products, bearing the cultural identity of Ly Son island in particular and Quang Ngai province in general.

At the consultation session, local residents expressed their joy when the Central Government planned to turn Ly Son into a national sea and island tourism center, a coastal city.

At the same time, it is recommended that the district and consulting and planning units carefully assess the impact of extreme weather on the island when planning commercial service centers, tourism, and urban areas; implement the planning to ensure the environment, avoid destroying the landscape, relics, and traditional festivals; pay attention to creating jobs for local workers, and at the same time strengthen propaganda, mobilization, and persuasion to create high consensus among the people for this policy.

Leaders of Ly Son district and the Management Board of Dung Quat Economic Zone and the province's industrial parks answered many questions from the people; at the same time, affirmed that the establishment of the Ly Son Urban Construction Sub-Zone Planning Project does not destroy the landscape, historical and cultural relics and traditional festivals, especially the traditional Tu Linh boat racing festival./.
