Welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife on an official visit to the Republic of Finland

According to the special correspondent of VNA, on the morning of October 21 (local time), the welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on an official visit to the Republic of Finland at the invitation of Finnish President Alexander Stubb was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace.

At exactly 10:00 a.m. (local time), the car carrying General Secretary To Lam and his wife entered the Presidential Palace.

President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and his wife welcomed General Secretary To Lam and his wife at the parking lot, then invited General Secretary To Lam and his wife to stand in the place of honor. The military band played the Vietnamese and Finnish national anthems.

The two sides introduced their delegates at the welcoming ceremony. Next, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife invited General Secretary To Lam and his wife to move to the guest book room.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy and excitement to visit the beautiful, creative, cultural and humane country of Finland; and thanked the President, his wife and the people of Finland for their warm, friendly and sympathetic welcome.

General Secretary To Lam stressed that Vietnam highly values the role and good relationship with Finland; he believes that this visit to Finland will make positive contributions, opening a new page in the relationship between the two countries, contributing to peace , stability and development in the region and the world.

At the end of the welcoming ceremony, President of Finland Alexander Stubb and General Secretary To Lam led high-ranking delegations of the two countries to hold talks.

This is the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to Finland, demonstrating Vietnam's deep respect for the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Finland.
Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Finland has grown continuously in recent years. Cooperation in the field of education and training has been expanded, currently there are nearly 20 Vietnamese higher education institutions cooperating effectively with Finnish partners and more than 2,500 Vietnamese students studying in Finland in the fields of economics, information technology, tourism, etc.

Science and technology is a potential area of cooperation between the two countries with many memoranda of understanding signed since 1995. Since establishing diplomatic relations, Finland has continuously provided non-refundable aid without imposing political conditions for Vietnam, focusing on the fields of water resource management, poverty reduction, climate change adaptation, forestry, etc.

The two countries are also actively promoting cooperation in other areas. Energy is a long-term and potential area of cooperation in the bilateral relationship, with the focus on deploying renewable energy in disadvantaged areas; developing renewable energy and related projects and legal frameworks.

Regarding culture, sports and tourism, the two sides organized a number of cultural exchange activities in each country in the fields of fine arts, music, literature, etc.

In addition, people-to-people exchange has also been promoted with many positive results; friendship associations between the two countries act as a bridge to help people of the two countries have the opportunity to know more about the cultural beauty, traditions of each other's countries and people.
