The Cao Da communal house and pagoda relic site was formerly located in Dong Dinh village, Cao Da commune, Nam Xuong district, Ly Nhan prefecture; now it belongs to My Da village, Nhan My commune (Ly Nhan). According to preserved documents, Cao Da communal house, Nhan My commune was built in the 17th century. The communal house worships 5 village tutelary gods who were talented generals during the reign of An Duong Vuong: Nam Hai Dai Vuong, Cau Mang Dai Vuong, Nguyen Du Duoc, Nguyen Pho Te and the governor Truong Han Sieu. These are all loyal ministers who helped the king keep the border peaceful, taught the Cao Da people to reclaim land, take care of livestock, grow crops, develop carpentry, and stabilize their lives. Along with the communal house, Cao Da pagoda is also a unique architectural work of art with a worship space consisting of a system of valuable wooden statues and worship objects. Besides its spiritual values, Cao Da communal house and pagoda were also revolutionary bases during the anti-French period, a trusted place for senior cadres and party members from the central and local levels to operate in the area, monitor the enemy situation, and successfully lead and organize revolutionary movements.
With its unique historical, cultural and architectural values, in 1996, Cao Da communal house and pagoda were recognized as a National Monument. To commemorate the merits of the great mandarins, every year on the 23rd and 24th of the second lunar month, the local people hold a traditional festival to pay tribute to the village's tutelary gods, holy mothers and ancestors.
The traditional festival of Cao Da communal house and pagoda is not only a beautiful cultural tradition of the locality, but also helps people have more faith and hope for good things in the future. This is also an opportunity toeducate generations about national pride; gratitude and respect for ancestors, those who have contributed to helping the people and the country, thereby making more efforts and attempts in the cause of building the homeland and the country to innovate.
