The South Korean Olympic team easily defeated the Chinese Olympic team in the quarterfinals of the 19th Asian Games men's football (Hangzhou, China). Coach Hwang Sun-hong even did not use his two best players, Jeong Woo-yeong and Lee Kang-in, from the beginning.
The Korean Olympic team rushed to attack right after the opening whistle. However, the first few minutes were not easy for the Korean team. They encountered strong resistance from the Chinese Olympic team. The home team retreated all 11 players to their own half of the field.

Struggling with open play, the Korean team found a way to get past goalkeeper Han Jiaqi through a set piece. In the 18th minute, the away team was awarded a free kick on the right wing. Hong Hyun-seok skillfully curled the ball into the top corner, opening the scoring.
The loss forced the home team to play more openly, but their attacks were all broken up in the midfield. On the other hand, their defense became fragile against the skillful feet of the Korean players.
In the 35th minute, Cho Young-wook dribbled comfortably on the right wing before crossing inside. The ball did not go too far but goalkeeper Han Jiaqi still failed to catch it. Song Min-kyu easily doubled the gap.
In the second half, Olympic China entered the game quickly while Olympic Korea had not yet stabilized their formation. They almost shortened the score with Tan Long's header hitting the post.
After taking a two-goal lead, the Korean Olympic team gave up their attacking style of play. They played slowly, retreating to conserve energy. However, the Chinese Olympic team could not create any surprises even though the second half was still very long.
In the end, the Korean Olympic team won 2-0 and advanced to the semi-finals, meeting the Uzbekistan Olympic team.
The remaining semi-final will be between Olympic Hong Kong (China) and Olympic Japan. Previously, Olympic Hong Kong (China) surprisingly defeated Olympic Iran with a score of 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
