On the afternoon of September 18, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai received a British business delegation led by Mr. Michael Mainelli, Mayor of the London Financial Center, who visited and worked in Vietnam.

According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai, recently, three important documents, namely the Capital Law, the Capital Planning Project for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050 and adjustment of the Capital Master Plan to 2045, vision to 2065, have been approved, in which Hanoi's development is determined towards a green financial market, digital finance, circular economy and science and technology, high-quality human resources are considered as breakthroughs.

On that basis, in the coming time, Hanoi plans to build a large-scale financial center in Dong Anh and aims to turn the capital into a global connection center by 2045.

Therefore, the city hopes that London, as one of the four leading financial centers in the world, will share experience, technology, and make recommendations on the legal framework with Hanoi. In addition, the city government also wishes to cooperate with London in the field of education and training of high-quality human resources, the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee emphasized.

Impressed by the development goals of Hanoi Capital, Mayor of the London Financial Center Michael Mainelli welcomed the fact that Hanoi is implementing many green urban development programs until 2027.

In the context of London being an ancient city with many old buildings not designed to cope with climate change, the city government is also making efforts to transform towards a more sustainable and "green" urban area, the Mayor shared.

Accordingly, London is trying to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce temperatures by many measures such as insulating paint, planting cooling trees, etc. Digitizing data on ancient buildings is also very important for conservation and restoration work. In the process, London is very willing to share its experiences with Hanoi.

The Mayor of London also emphasized his desire for extensive cooperation, connection and exchange, and making appropriate recommendations in the fields of finance, urban railways, education, etc., contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two capitals as well as the two countries.
