The Law on Vietnam Coast Guard contributes to firmly building the national defense posture and people's security at sea.

Today, March 26, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of National Defense , Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, the Ministry of National Defense held a national online conference to summarize the implementation of the project "Propaganda and dissemination of the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard for the period 2019 - 2023". The Law on Vietnam Coast Guard was passed by the National Assembly on November 19, 2018, effective from July 1, 2019. This is a solid legal framework to promote the combined strength of the entire political system, all levels, sectors, organizations and individuals in the cause of protecting sovereignty, security and national interests at sea.

At the same time, it is the basis for building the Vietnam Coast Guard force in a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern direction. After the Law on Coast Guard was promulgated, on August 22, 2019, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1059/QD-TTg approving the project "Propaganda and dissemination of the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard for the period 2019 - 2023".

During the project implementation process, with a high sense of responsibility, ministries, branches and localities have mobilized maximum resources, promoted the role of the entire political system, built programs, diversified forms, and applied models creatively and flexibly, suitable to the actual conditions of localities, units and subjects.

Typical programs and models that have effectively promoted propaganda include "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen", "Coast Guard with ethnic and religious compatriots", the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands", "Vietnam People's Navy is a support for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", "Border with schools", "Border loudspeakers" ...

After 5 years of implementing the project, the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard has come into effect, raising the awareness of law compliance of cadres, party members, armed forces and people of all walks of life, especially fishermen; gradually limiting and minimizing violations of the law at sea, especially fishermen violating the law on smuggling, trade fraud, IUU fishing, and illegal entry and exit.

Since then, the work of fighting and preventing all kinds of crimes, especially drug crimes at sea, and protecting marine resources has been effective, meeting the requirements and tasks of national defense - security, and socio-economic development. In addition, it has encouraged fishermen to enthusiastically go offshore and stick to the sea, contributing to building a solid national defense and people's security at sea, while at the same time effectively fighting and refuting the wrong views of hostile forces. Thereby, full and accurate information on Vietnam's policies and laws on protecting the sea and islands has reached countries in the region and the world.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the conference proposed 8 groups of tasks such as promoting the dissemination of the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard to cadres, party members and people of all walks of life, especially fishermen in 28 coastal localities. Diversifying forms of dissemination.

Strengthen the drafting, printing and provision of adequate propaganda materials to functional agencies and units. Promote the role of press agencies in propaganda. Strengthen the application of information technology and digital transformation in project implementation. Promote international exchange and cooperation activities to convey information, policies and laws on the management and protection of Vietnam's seas and islands to countries around the world.
