International searches for Vietnam tourism to increase sharply in early 2025

(To Quoc) - With a flexible visa policy, rich tourism resources, and a prominent brand, Vietnam is becoming an attractive destination on the world tourism map. Data compiled from the Google Destination Insights tool shows a significant increase in international searches for Vietnam tourism.

According to data from Google, the number of international searches for tourist accommodation in Vietnam from the end of November 2024 to the end of January 2025 increased by 15% - 30% compared to the same period last year. Notably, in the first half of February 2025, the number of international searches continued to increase by 30% - 45%.

The markets that are searching the most for Vietnam tourism are the US, Australia, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, the UK, Canada, Germany and Malaysia. These are also the key markets for Vietnam tourism in the Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe and North America regions. Notably, the two major markets, Australia and India, have the second and third highest search volume, showing great potential and room for growth.

The most searched destinations in Vietnam by international visitors are Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Hue, Vung Tau.

This continues to be a positive signal for Vietnam Tourism as it enters early 2025 after a breakthrough period in 2024. In January 2025, Vietnam welcomed nearly 2.1 million international visitors, an increase of 18.5% over the previous month and an increase of 36.9% over the same period in 2024. This is a new record for the tourism industry, surpassing the figure of nearly 2 million international visitors in January 2020. Compared to the same period in 2019 before the pandemic, the number of visitors in January 2025 was 37.8% higher.

The increase in demand from international visitors to Vietnam shows the clear effectiveness of the newly issued open visa policy, breakthrough promotion programs in the past year, raising the level of Vietnam's tourism brand in the world, as well as the increasingly rich, attractive, high-quality system of Vietnam's tourism products and services, suitable to the needs and tastes of tourists in the new period.

Recently, the Government issued Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP on visa exemption under the Tourism Development Stimulus Program for citizens of the Republic of Poland, the Czech Republic and the Swiss Confederation from March 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. This policy is expected to continue to be an important "push" to attract international visitors from the three European markets to Vietnam this year.
