There are also people who have the disease but have not discovered it because they have not gone to the doctor, or have been examined but not by the right specialist, and it is not detected.

Stroke in athletes most commonly occurs during or after high-intensity training or competition. The main causes of stroke in athletes are hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, and the use of stimulants such as doping.

The cause of heart stroke due to strenuous exercise can depend on many other factors such as people over 35 years old have a higher risk, men are at higher risk than women.

According to Dr. Manh, strenuous exercise such as high-intensity jogging can lead to stroke in both the elderly and the young, especially those with underlying diseases such as dilated cardiomyopathy and coronary artery disease. These diseases often do not show obvious symptoms.

Only when the patient suddenly exerts himself will the disease be detected. Therefore, health screening is an effective method to detect potential risks and diseases. From there, the doctor will advise on choosing the right exercise for your health, avoiding risks.

Regular health check-ups: Athletes should have regular health check-ups at least once a year, including clinical examination, stress test, electrocardiogram, and echocardiogram.

Medical history screening: You need to share your complete personal and family medical history with your doctor.

To prevent stroke while running, runners need to follow the notes below.

- You need to warm up all muscle groups sufficiently and comprehensively, do not warm up for too long because it will tire the muscles, consume too much energy, warm up in the right order, from light, easy movements to difficult movements to gradually warm up the muscles. When the weather is cold, you must warm up thoroughly, follow the principle of increasing the intensity and dosage of movements slowly because it is easy to tear the muscles.

- You should not use hot massage oils to warm up instead of warming up because this method only warms the skin with chemicals but the tendons and ligaments are not warm enough.

- Before practicing any sport, you need to have a physical check to see if there are any underlying medical conditions such as heart or lung disease or a family history of heart, lung, blood pressure, or musculoskeletal problems.

- During the running process, you need to adjust the intensity, do not start running too fast or too hard, gradually increase the intensity and distance when the body is ready. You need to have a training plan to gradually increase the intensity and distance of running, for example, you should only increase the distance by 200m each week, do not suddenly increase the distance.

- Keep your body cool, hydrate and regulate your body to avoid heat shock.

- While running, listen to your body. If you feel uncomfortable or too tired, stop and rest. If necessary, call for help.

- When you finish running, gradually slow down and do some stretching exercises to help your body recover.
