On August 25, in Ho Chi Minh City, Mai Linh Group Joint Stock Company held its annual general meeting of shareholders. The meeting took place in the context of the passenger transport industry going through a challenging period: strong fluctuations in fuel prices, changes in consumer behavior after the COVID-19 pandemic, fierce competition from technology-based ride-hailing models and increasingly high demands on service quality.
Mai Linh Group held a general meeting of shareholders in the context of business results that were not as expected.
According to the consolidated financial report, in 2024, Mai Linh achieved net revenue of VND875.7 billion, after-tax profit of VND3.69 billion, completing 87.57% of the revenue plan and 12.3% of the profit plan. Meanwhile, the consolidated report recorded revenue of more than VND1,343 billion, after-tax loss of more than VND43 billion, equivalent to 81.41% of the revenue plan and negative 71.81% of the profit plan.
This result is not as expected, but clearly reflects the general difficulties of the transport industry, where the market "pie" is increasingly fragmented and the pressure to optimize costs is increasing.
In that context, Mai Linh determined that it needed a long-term strategy instead of temporary solutions. The company is steadfast in its three main directions: digital transformation as the core, customer service as the center, and operational restructuring to create new momentum. This choice demonstrates the determination to comprehensively transform itself to adapt to the harsh changes of the market.
Digital transformation has been a prominent step for Mai Linh. The company has simultaneously deployed a ride-hailing app, 1055 call center, integrated ride-hailing via Zalo, and many forms of cashless payment, creating a more convenient experience for customers.
The Contact Center On Cloud switchboard system has been put into operation, allowing for increased efficiency, expanded multi-channel interactions and cost reduction compared to the traditional model. This is an important change in the context of traditional taxi services having to compete directly with technology-based ride-hailing platforms.
Mai Linh electric taxis have started rolling in some major cities.
In terms of vehicle management, Mai Linh invests in modern equipment for each vehicle: GPS-integrated positioning system and dash cam, smart electronic watch directly connected to the receipt printer and magnetic card reader to manage drivers by shift.
Digitizing the entire operational process not only helps improve transparency and passenger safety, but also paves the way for future service standardization and automation.
In addition to the digitalization strategy, Mai Linh also persistently pursues the goal of sustainable and environmentally friendly development through a series of "greening the transport ecosystem" projects deployed nationwide.
From 2024, the group will start investing in electric vehicles to gradually replace the old fleet. The goal is to reduce CO₂ emissions, save operating costs and move towards a zero-emission transport ecosystem in the long term.
In many big cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Thanh Hoa or Quang Ngai, green electric taxis have started rolling, bringing a quieter, smoother experience to passengers and a more environmentally friendly image.
According to Mr. Ho Huy - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mai Linh Group, Mai Linh's transformation does not stop at investing in technology, but also includes changes in management thinking, business model and corporate culture.
Mr. Ho Huy - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mai Linh Group, shared with shareholders.
Mr. Huy believes that it is impossible to continue following the old path. Mai Linh must strongly transform to adapt to the new era. Green values are not only an environmental commitment, but will become the development identity of the enterprise in the technology era.
“I do not deny that the road ahead will be full of challenges. But the spirit of the ‘green-shirt warrior’ that has helped us overcome many storms will continue to be the inner strength that helps Mai Linh to persevere. Challenges are a test of business mettle. Mai Linh knows that it needs to change to become stronger, to go further with shareholders, customers and the community. Mai Linh is not afraid of difficulties, because we believe that real value and long-term commitment will always be recognized,” Mr. Ho Huy affirmed.
