Hanoi A 60-year-old woman had a high fever for 5 days, vomiting and epigastric pain, thought to have a stomach ache, but tests revealed dengue fever and thick blood.
When the patient entered the Tropical Disease Center, Bach Mai Hospital, the platelet count dropped sharply to only 10 G/L while the normal range was 150-450, the blood was concentrated, pleural effusion, plasma leakage. The patient's condition was dangerous, platelet transfusion, high molecular solution was given.
On June 27, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Duy Cuong, Center for Tropical Diseases, said that many people have dengue fever without knowing it, mistaking it for Covid, flu or other diseases. By the 4th or 5th day, the blood is concentrated, platelets are low, which is severe dengue fever, some cases of multiple organ failure such as increased liver enzymes, liver failure, kidney failure, blood clotting disorders.
He recommends that when fever persists, one should go to the hospital for examination and blood test to detect dengue fever early and treat it promptly.

Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi has recorded 357 cases of dengue fever in 28 districts, a five-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
The Hanoi Department of Health predicts that the dengue fever situation this year will be complicated. The cause is the urbanization process, the sunny and rainy climate, which creates favorable conditions for the vector of the disease, the Aedes mosquito, to breed and develop. Prevent the disease by avoiding mosquito bites, cleaning the environment, spraying insecticides to kill mosquito larvae.
