Highights Lorenzo Musetti 2-0 Daniil Medvedev:
Daniil Medvedev continues to show his instability on clay, the surface he once admitted to “hating the most” in his career. In the fourth round of the Rome Open 2025, the Russian player will face Lorenzo Musetti, the 8th seed and also the home team's hope.
The first set saw a tug-of-war between the two top players. Medvedev tried his best but lacked the explosiveness at key moments. Meanwhile, Musetti showed his mettle and took advantage of the opportunity to break at the end of the set, thereby winning 7-5.

In the second set, Medvedev was clearly helpless against Musetti's skillful and versatile plays. The Italian continued to dominate, successfully breaking the game and ending the set with a 6-4 victory, thereby winning 2-0 overall to enter the quarterfinals of the Rome Open 2025.
In another notable match, Alexander Zverev – the second seed defeated Arthur Fils with a score of 7-6, 6-1. Despite having a difficult first set when entering the tie-break, Zverev showed his mettle to win 7-3. In the second set, he completely overwhelmed his opponent thanks to his physical strength and stable playing style.
Zverev will face Musetti in the quarter-finals - a match that promises to be dramatic. In the remaining matches, Tommy Paul defeated Alex De Minaur 7-5, 6-3, while Hurkacz dramatically defeated Mensik 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 to compete with Paul for a ticket to the semi-finals.
Zverev became the first male player born in the 1990s to reach 100 quarter-final wins at ATP Tour level.
