DNVN - Sharing at the "Forum connecting science and technology products with enterprises, cooperatives, and people", on the afternoon of July 10, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that it is necessary to make science and technology (S&T) projects transparent, creating conditions for agricultural enterprises to participate more deeply.
Sharing at the forum, Dr. Nguyen Cong Tiep - Deputy Director of Vietnam Academy of Agriculture said that Vietnam Academy of Agriculture is currently the leading unit in research and teaching. Besides training, the academy strengthens research activities with the motto of researching what the market needs.
Over the past 10 years, the academy has had 53 products registered for intellectual property; 163 products have potential for commercialization. Nearly 3,000 scientific and technological articles have been published in international journals. The academy is currently cooperating and forming joint ventures with about 200 domestic and foreign enterprises.
“We advocate researching topics that meet practical needs. Cooperatives, businesses, manufacturers, etc., please place orders with the academy so that we can apply our research to increase the value of agricultural products,” Mr. Tiep invited.
Ms. Tran Kim Lien - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Seed Group (Vinaseed) said that since 2006, Vinaseed has cooperated with public research institutes to transfer scientific and technological products into production. These varieties account for about 50% of the company's revenue structure.
“Public-private partnership is essential in the current period to make the most of social resources and connect research with the market. Enterprises expect the private sector to have specific information about the project, thereby seeking investment opportunities.
We want to go the long way, continuing to accompany the sustainable development of Vietnamese agriculture," Ms. Lien expressed.
Vinaseed Chairman proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development select ideas from institutes and schools. Based on science and technology, identify specific investment portfolios. Thereby creating conditions for small and medium enterprises to participate in the value chain.
Minister Le Minh Hoan agreed with Vinaseed's proposal and said that it is necessary to make the ministry's scientific projects transparent to create conditions for agricultural enterprises to participate more deeply.
Mr. Tran Trung Duc - Chairman and Director of Viba Banana Cooperative (the largest and most prestigious banana producer in the North) shared that Viba Banana Cooperative started out as a fruit supplier, so it understood the market. When sales were good, the company returned to develop the growing area.
Viba Banana Cooperative is currently growing tissue-cultured non-GMO red banana varieties. The product is researched and produced by the Central Institute of Vegetables and Fruits, providing high and consistent quality. Red bananas are currently grown on farms in Hoa Binh and Hung Yen, following VietGAP growing procedures.
“Bringing a product to market is a long process and requires constant back and forth with scientists. When consumers’ demands change, businesses must respond.
To edit the product, scientists are needed. They are companions, real companions, not just signing a contract and that's it," said Mr. Duc.
The Chairman and Director of Viba Banana Cooperative expressed their desire to expand into the world market, not being limited to the domestic market. As a small enterprise with little capital and resources, the Cooperative wants to have sample products from research institutes so that it can adjust and calculate customer needs faster.

Giving 5 issues to promote connection and transfer of scientific and technological products, Professor, Dr. Vo Dai Hai - Vietnam Forestry Science Institute said that to connect good scientific and technological products, there must be many good and new products.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development needs support to digitize science and technology products. Help businesses and people have easier access to the digitalization process.
“We need to change our approach. Businesses seek out scientists and vice versa, scientists also need to seek out businesses to promote science and technology. In cooperation and linkage in transferring science and technology, we need to put “trust” first,” Mr. Hai emphasized.
Within the framework of the event, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a “Space for displaying and introducing agricultural science and technology products”. Many new scientific and technological achievements were introduced here.
The series of events is a bridge to form, develop and spread many ideas and research transfer cooperation projects. Attracting all social resources to accompany the agricultural sector and farmers. At the same time, bringing new technologies and technical advances into production practices.
