The delegation visited the coconut facility expansion model of Mr. Bui Thanh Sang - AMD Project, Tan Hau 2 Hamlet, An Dinh Commune. The project was implemented in 2018. Total investment cost was 201.75 million VND (AMD Project: 98.15 million VND; beneficiaries contributed 40.6 million VND in cash and 63 million VND in kind). AMD Project supported capital from the Adaptation Model Co-Funding Fund (CFAF). The support capital has helped the facility expand further. Currently, the facility has become a company and provides stable jobs for more than 200 workers. Each worker's income is from 5-10 million VND/month.
Mr. Bui Thanh Sang said that the company is aiming to open more facilities to purchase coconuts, process and sell fruits, rice, bran, and coconut fiber. The company will purchase more raw materials from local organic coconut areas and some neighboring communes. The company is expanding and cooperating to supply coconuts to businesses such as Asia, Luong Quoi, and Green Coconut.
The delegation visited Ben Tre Coconut Investment Joint Stock Company (BEINCO), where the model is implemented: Investing in a Coconut Processing Center and linking coconut consumption, contributing to increasing stable income for local people in Mo Cay Bac district, former Ben Tre province. The AMD and BEINCO project implements a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Total cost of 9.05 billion VND (AMD invested 1.85 billion VND, BEINCO 7.2 billion VND) to build a processing center in Thanh Son 2 hamlet, Ben Tre ward. The project invested in machinery, equipment, tools; trade promotion, image promotion for the company; training and coaching. There are 465 households benefiting (of which, the coconut production and supply linkage with 315 households participating in the area of 169.16 hectares, creating jobs for 150 rural workers), 90 poor households, near-poor households and 105 women. Currently, BEINCO is operating well and has expanded the raw material area in other communes.

Through the survey and information exchange from Mr. Bui Thanh Sang's coconut facility and BEINCO Company, members of the IFAD Vietnam Working Group and the IFAD Independent Evaluation Office highly appreciated the effectiveness of the two models of the CSAT Project in creating jobs and income for poor and near-poor households in the locality. At the same time, they encouraged access to more capital from credit institutions to expand production facilities, attract more workers from poor and near-poor households to work as well as contribute to promoting local economic development.
