Front page of Hue today Weekend No. 46
In the development orientation of tourism and services in Hue City in the period of 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2045, Hue tourism aims to attract 10 - 12 million visitors by 2030, an increase of 18 - 20% per year, of which international visitors account for about 45 - 50%. However, according to Mr. Dinh Manh Thang, Vice President of Vietnam Tourism Association, President of Hue City Tourism Association, besides the encouraging results, Hue tourism still has issues that need to change strongly in the journey of sustainable development.
“It must be affirmed that Vietnamese tourism in general, and Hue in particular, has been and is having positive changes. Vietnamese tourism is ranked among the most impressive growth groups in the world, which has the contribution of each locality, including Hue. Data shows that in the first 10 months of 2025, Hue tourism has achieved the highest number ever with nearly 5.4 million arrivals, including more than 1.5 million international visitors. It is good that Hue tourism has just achieved many impressive results, but besides that, there are still more breakthrough wishes. From the perspective of the key economic sector and inherent potentials and strengths, the development of Hue tourism in recent times has not been as expected…” - Mr. Dinh Manh Thang expressed.
Going through consecutive days of fierce floods that have been pouring down on the people of Hue, author Huy Khanh shares his feelings of “Landslide Obsession” to spread the message: “The question is why do landslides occur with increasing frequency; and are their nature and severity increasingly serious? Almost immediately, all eyes turn to the forest! But if the forest is encroached upon, narrowed, and eroded, how can it be able to reduce the flow when it rains, and how can it consolidate the soil layers without landslides?
For basic construction projects, economic projects (such as hydropower plants, for example), when planning and designing, it is necessary to carefully calculate to minimize negative impacts on forests, especially protective forests and primary forests. If it is found to be "not commensurate" with the benefits of the forest, then resolutely do not approve or grant a license. It is necessary to be serious and resolute like that, only then will the word "landslide" have a chance to reduce the haunting effect on the community.
Only by “settling down” can one “finish a career” another concern of the author “old but not tired” Nguyen Khac Phe when discussing the “settling down” of some cultural institutions of Hue city, such as: Museum, library… The author stated his opinion: “A cultural center like Hue in the process of construction and development, has many big things to worry about. Some of the “cultural institutions” I mentioned above are just a narrow perspective with the hope that when the relevant agencies decide to change the address of those facilities, they need to consider comprehensively, carefully consider many aspects so that if they are forced to change the address, that change must create conditions for cultural institutions to operate better, serving the public’s needs more effectively…
