Building a distribution network
The Center for Trade Promotion and Enterprise Support and related departments and branches have organized many trade promotion activities from small to large scale, supporting businesses to participate in trade promotion conferences at the local level and in provinces and cities across the country. The effectiveness of these activities is quite large.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lang, Deputy Director of Bach Nghe Bup Sen Co., Ltd. shared: We participate in most of the trade promotion activities organized by departments and branches. These activities are important because this is an opportunity for Bach Nghe Bup Sen products to be promoted and introduced to customers in and outside the province. From there, many of the Company's products are known to consumers, and the products also sell better through these activities.
In fact, trade promotion activities are considered as opportunities for businesses to sell and introduce products. However, this is not enough for the meaning of trade promotion activities, because trade promotion activities do not stop at the meaning of selling or introducing products but aim at a higher goal of finding markets and building distribution networks. The formation of new distribution channels will create a sustainable direction for businesses in development.
The larger the chain, the higher the requirements
At the conference on connecting supply and demand between Hue city and provinces and cities in 2025 recently organized by the Center for Trade Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support, large distribution systems such as: Central Retail Group in Vietnam; Co.opmart Supermarket, Kinh Do Specialty... all emphasized that the criteria for participating in the system are the difference and criteria on product standards. No matter how much a business's products participate in trade promotion activities, if the packaging is sketchy, the traceability information is unclear and the quality is uneven; especially the transparent information of goods, invalid invoices and documents, it will be very difficult to participate in the supply chain.
Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Director of External Relations in charge of the Central region, Central Retail Group Vietnam informed: A product that wants to be on the shelves must meet legal documents, quality must be guaranteed from food hygiene and safety certificates, testing papers, quality declaration records, other certificates such as: Organic, hydroponics, VietGAP. If a business has a good product, but lacks one of the documents or lacks investment in packaging, it will be difficult to participate in the supply chain.
In fact, large distribution channels are not only places to sell products, but also units that guarantee quality for consumers. Therefore, the more stringent the input standards, the more it proves the prestige of the product brand.
Based on her experience participating in a number of supply chains of large distributors, Ms. Ho Nhat Phuong, SBC Hoang Gia Company, said that the most important thing is that the product must ensure quality standards and product design. Therefore, in the initial stage of participating in trade promotion in the chains, SBC Hoang Gia invested heavily in technology, quality standard certifications, and invested in environmentally friendly product designs. At the same time, to create a sustainable market, we also invested in expanding the scale of raw material areas to ensure quality. Currently, the rate of orders signed at trade promotion events and chains has been quite stable.
In the general picture of trade promotion activities, trade promotion agencies not only play a connecting and supporting role but also act as filters and trainers, helping businesses access the market more effectively.
To participate in trade promotion activities, products participating in events must pass internal tests on product quality, packaging design and stable supply capacity of the organizing units. For businesses that have not met the set criteria and standards, the city as well as departments and branches are implementing many support programs from training, consulting to support activities for machinery, designs, product quality declaration... This is an opportunity for businesses and business households to take advantage of external resources and promote internal resources for successful trade promotion.
