On November 13, the Hue Project - Plastic-reducing Urban Area in Central Vietnam (TVA Project) in collaboration with the mGreen Initiative organized a summary of technology application activities in PLRTN and Recycled Waste Supply Chain Management through the mGreen application.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of departments, businesses and more than 50 typical buyers and sellers participating in the operation and use of the mGreen technology system throughout the implementation process.
As an award-winning initiative at the Hue Plastic Waste Reduction Initiative Competition 2023 organized by the TVA Project, mGreen is an application that directly connects sellers and buyers of recyclable waste. After sorting recyclable waste, users of the application can choose to schedule a collection at home or bring it to points to exchange waste for gifts on their phones or bring it to points to store waste after sorting in the city. Users can choose to receive money or accumulate points based on the volume of recyclable waste or the number of times they sort waste.
After 2 years of implementation, the "mGreen Online Scrap Market" system has achieved many positive results, contributing to promoting the circular economy model and PLRTN in Hue City when nearly 3,000 households have participated in using the mGreen mobile application to classify waste.
Three technology scrap collection cooperatives in Huong An Ward, An Cuu Ward and Group 3 were established with 32 members, using mobile applications to collect recyclable waste at home. In addition, 9 scrap yards and 2 recycling factories also participated in the system, contributing to the classification and collection of more than 210 tons of recyclable waste, while connecting 4,200 collection orders and carrying out 8,500 buying, selling and exchanging gifts. In particular, more than 30 tons of used plastic packaging were traded through two applications for buying and selling waste on the mGreen online platform.
Sharing at the ceremony, Ms. Hoang Thi Ha Vi, Head of the No. 3 Technology Scrap Cooperative, said: “The mGreen technology system has greatly supported the activities of sorting and collecting recyclable waste, and at the same time directly connected with recycling units with environmental licenses. Thanks to that, the cooperative operates with the orientation of developing into an official scrap business household. We hope that this activity will be implemented long-term to continue supporting the links in the collection and recycling chain.”
After a successful implementation period in Hue City, the new technology scrap traders have contributed to solving the problem of PLRTN, promoting digital transformation in the scrap trading profession, building a circular economy, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development.
