After Tuoi Tre Online published the information "7 fake drugs, including diabetes drugs, were discovered at a pharmacy", many readers expressed their outrage and requested strict handling.
Previously, some drug samples sold at Duc Anh pharmacy (Dong Da district, Hanoi ) were discovered to be of unknown origin, without valid documents, including diabetes treatment drugs that were of poor quality, containing active ingredients lower than the standard.
The Drug Administration of Vietnam directed competent authorities to trace the origin of the violating drug batches and strictly handle acts of trading in drugs of unknown origin and not qualified for circulation.
Results reported before June 2.
The Drug Administration also requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities to widely inform medical facilities and people not to buy, sell, or use the above batches of drugs.
Counterfeit drugs are mass murder
Reading information related to the incident, reader Mo Mo exclaimed: "It's scary". Meanwhile, reader Coc frankly asked: "Is this any different from killing a sick person?".
According to reader Hoan, "counterfeit drugs are a mass murder crime, so checking them cannot be done in a month but must be continuous."
Sharing from a patient's perspective, reader Loi said that patients only hope to be cured when taking medicine.
"Isn't it too cruel to do that to someone's life?", this reader expressed his indignation.
"People are sick and need medicine to treat and maintain their health, but they get fake medicine. While the disease can be controlled, taking fake medicine makes the disease worse and worse, losing their chance to live.
"The crime of producing fake drugs and drug ingredients that are not as described on the secondary label, no matter how small or large, needs to be severely punished," said a reader named RiO.
Specifying that these are drugs for blood lipids, heart disease, diabetes, etc., reader Huong Vu spoke up: "Why do our own people harm our own people? I hope that the agencies will conduct regular and surprise inspections, not only when there are peak times."
From his own story, reader Hai Tran shared that his father had cancer and bought cancer treatment drugs, spending a lot of money. Then he passed away, and after a while, the newspaper reported that the drugs were fake.
"This is no different from murder. We must take strong action against this situation. They indirectly kill people for money," this reader suggested.
Many readers are worried about counterfeit drugs sneaking into pharmacies outside the country, sometimes even into hospital pharmacies. "Does buying medicine now have to be left to luck?", one reader wondered.
Meanwhile, a reader named Pha pointed out: "The authorities certainly have a great deal of responsibility in their management."
Hope the authorities will step up inspection and crackdown on fake drugs
A reader with email account tuan****@gmail.com asked why pharmacies are not inspected and gave reasons why inspections are necessary.
The first is the situation of fake drugs; the second is the sale of all kinds of functional foods, which may not be of the quality as advertised; the third is that some places have sky-high prices.
"All imported batches should be checked. All domestic factories and pharmacies should be checked," reader Do Thanh Hung agreed.
Meanwhile, reader Tra Hoa expressed: "I hope to track down and handle all places that produce and trade fake and poor quality drugs."
Similarly, a reader with email huyn****@gmail.com suggested " The Ministry of Health needs to strictly handle these cases of counterfeit drugs, it's too dangerous."
Reader with email khie****@gmail.com also believes that it is necessary for the Department of Health and related agencies to conduct surprise inspections of pharmacies more frequently to ensure people's health.
If counterfeit drugs are discovered, the business license will be revoked and the pharmacy owner will not be allowed to reopen.
"I hope we can quickly check to eliminate fake drugs," a reader with the account cong****@gmail.com earnestly requested.
