Meliá Hotels International’s first hotel in Laos, located in Luang Prabang, will undergo a 12-month rebranding process and join the Meliá Collection. Situated on the riverbank, The Grand Luang Prabang features 75 rooms spread across eight buildings, including a 1920s palace and several functional areas.

Formerly known as Xiengkeo Palace, the resort features French colonial architecture, though still retains a strong Laotian feel. Set on 6 hectares of elevated land, the resort offers sweeping views of the mountains, rivers and spectacular sunsets. Balconies from the rooms overlook manicured gardens and lotus ponds, and the resort also has a large swimming pool in the garden.

Mr. Gabriel Escarrer, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, shared his high expectations for the special hotel in Laos: “We expect destinations like Luang Prabang to become more popular with modern travelers who are looking for new and unique experiences. I am sure that this hotel will help guests fully enjoy the destination.”

Founded in 1956 in Spain, Meliá Hotels International has more than 400 hotels in operation or in the pipeline in over 40 countries. The group first entered Asia in the 1980s with the opening of Meliá Bali, and today has a portfolio of 50 properties (in operation and in the pipeline) in Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, China and Laos.

VOV.VN - Luang Prabang's tourism industry has set ambitious goals for Visit Laos Year 2024, amid concerns about preserving UNESCO-listed cultural heritage sites.
