Mu Cang Chai focuses on exploiting tourism development potential

In recent times, Mu Cang Chai commune has focused on widely disseminating the action plan to cadres, party members and people, promptly putting the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress into practice. Tourism facilities are increasingly upgraded in quantity and quality, meeting the needs of tourists. Up to now, the commune has 103 motels, homestays, and restaurants with the capacity to serve over 1,000 guests/day and night; the average number of tourists reaches over 80,000/year, contributing to the revenue of consumer services reaching 120 billion VND/year.

Identifying tourism as an important economic sector, a driving force for socio-economic development, immediately after the Commune Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term, the Commune Party Committee issued Resolution 20 NQ/DU on tourism development in Mu Cang Chai commune for the 2025 - 2030 period, with the goal of striving to make Mu Cang Chai a key tourist destination of the province by 2030, a destination of "Identity - Safety - Friendliness". The Commune Party Committee also identified tourism development associated with the implementation of Party resolutions, current legal regulations, especially Resolution No. 08 of the Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector and resolutions and projects on tourism development of the province.

By 2030, Mu Cang Chai strives to welcome 500,000 visitors/year; revenue from tourism services is estimated at about 500 billion VND; have at least 5 typical products recognized as OCOP products or typical tourism products; establish at least 2 cooperatives or enterprises in the tourism sector.

Immediately after the Commune Party Committee issued the plan, the Party Cell organized the study, dissemination and implementation of Resolution No. 20 to all Party members and people in the village. The Party Cell especially focused on promoting the exemplary role of 6 Party members who are operating community tourism models associated with environmental protection, maintaining security and order, and building a friendly, safe and hospitable local image. From these typical examples, the spirit of tourism development has spread to 35 tourism businesses in the village, contributing to building the commune into an attractive destination, while increasing income and improving people's lives.

In addition, the commune actively implements programs and resolutions to implement the provincial and central policies to support investment in tourism development through many specific activities: Organizing festival activities associated with the ripe rice season to promote the image of terraced fields; building sightseeing routes, experiencing natural forest ecosystems; developing community tourism products associated with national cultural identity. In particular, the locality has supported families providing homestay services to improve service quality and improve facilities to meet the needs of tourists.

I will borrow more capital to invest in building a homestay and creating landscapes to attract tourists to visit, experience, and create more income for the family.”

To promote local tourism development, at the end of August 2025, the leaders of Mu Cang Chai commune had a meeting with service businesses and porters in the area with the following contents: Improving the quality of homestay services, promoting beautiful images of Mu Cang Chai to domestic and international friends; ensuring food hygiene and safety; publicly posting prices; strengthening coordination to ensure security, order and traffic safety; ensuring absolute safety for tourists when coming to Mu Cang Chai; each service business raises awareness of preserving a green - clean - beautiful environment, preserving local cultural identity, contributing to creating a good impression for tourists.

At the same time, the Commune Party Committee also has a plan to inspect, urge, summarize and conclude the implementation of the resolution in the village and hamlet Party cells; promptly commend outstanding collectives and individuals and rectify and overcome limitations and weaknesses so that the Resolution on tourism development in Mu Cang Chai commune in the period of 2025 - 2030 can soon come into life.
