“Red Rain” officially releases trailer, looking forward to the big day

The movie “Red Rain” has released its official trailer, revealing images of the 81-day and night battle to protect Quang Tri Citadel, as well as the diplomatic battlefield at the Paris Conference in 1972, with the presence of all parties participating in the historic negotiations.

The trailer opens with a scene of Quang Tri writhing under a “rain of bombs and bullets”, the Thach Han River is red with blood, interspersed with the cold dialogue of General Cao Van (played by Lam Vissay): “At all costs, we must retake Quang Tri… so that Hanoi has no room to bargain in the so-called Paris Peace Talks.”

Quang Tri Province - the land at the head of the Fatherland, once divided into two regions, the North and the South - holds an important strategic position in the entire war situation. After the Spring - Summer campaign in 1972, Quang Tri was the first province to be liberated, becoming the target of reoccupation at all costs by the US - puppet army.

This created a close link between the Citadel front and the Paris negotiation table – a battle without gunfire but with global strategic impact.

The trailer introduces all four parties participating in the Paris Conference: the Democratic Republic of Vietnam Delegation, the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam Delegation, the Republic of Vietnam Delegation, and the United States Delegation. Among them, the representative of the Republic of Vietnam (played by Mai The Hiep) has a memorable line: “A country cannot have two suns, there can only be one – and that is us.”

At the same time, on the Quang Tri battlefield, Squad 1 and Battalion K3 Tam Son fought tenaciously to hold every inch of land. Under heavy fire for 81 days and nights – equivalent to 7 Hiroshima atomic bombs in 1945 – the images of American tanks and planes dropping bombs continuously made the audience shudder.

But also in that fire and smoke, the Vietnamese soldier's simple yet brave nature appeared through the words of squad leader Ta (played by Phuong Nam): "We will fight as many as there are left...".

The official poster of the film was also released along with the trailer, showing the spirit of sacrifice for the Fatherland of the soldiers in their twenties. The poster is divided in half, on one side are the Liberation Army soldiers with warm tones like the heart boiling with passion to protect the country, and on the other side are the representatives of the cold American-puppet soldiers, turning every place they pass through into a desolate land without any vitality.

The film “Red Rain” is a carefully invested project, gathering hundreds of actors and thousands of extras; recreating not only the fierce battlefield but also the difficult diplomatic front.

The trailer also surprisingly revealed the role of assistant to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam delegation played by Hoa Minzy – who also performed the theme song (OST) for the film. One of the emotional scenes is when she choked up to announce: “The soldiers fought very bravely… The Citadel Front is still holding firm.”

The trailer ends with a scream amidst the smoke and fire: “Don’t be discouraged, don’t give up, we will win!” – like a torch lighting up patriotism, noble sacrifice and belief in victory.

“Red Rain” was released on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2nd, as a gift of gratitude to the souls of those who died for independence and peace. At the same time, the film is also a bridge between history and the present, inspiring patriotism and revolutionary ideals for the younger generation.

The film is rated T13 (recommended for viewers aged 13 and over), allowing for wider access to young audiences. The film opens in theaters nationwide from August 22.

The film is produced by People's Army Cinema, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen, and released by Galaxy Studio on the occasion of the nation's solemn celebration of the 80th National Day, September 2.
