Flooding on National Highway 2 through Ham Yen district.
In Da Vi and Hong Thai communes (Na Hang), rainfall was measured at over 80mm; in Yen Lam and Bang Coc communes (Ham Yen), it was 54-60mm; and in Thuong Am commune (Son Duong), it was 75mm.
Soil moisture models show that some areas in the province are near saturation (over 80%), or have reached saturation. In many localities, rain has caused localized flooding in many low-lying areas, subsidence and landslides in areas with weak soil structures, and floods in river and stream systems.
At Lo River, heavy rain combined with the discharge of floodwaters from Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir caused the water level to rise to level I. Warning: in the next 6 hours, areas in the province will continue to have rain with accumulated rainfall common in Chiem Hoa and Son Duong districts (20-40mm); Ham Yen and Yen Son (10-40mm); Tuyen Quang City (20-50mm); Lam Binh and Na Hang (20-50mm), with a high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams; flash floods, landslides in steep terrain, areas with weak and unstable soil and rock structures, construction works and flooding in low-lying areas, along rivers and streams, and urban flooding.
Heavy rain caused widespread flooding in Yen Phu commune (Ham Yen).
The Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue requires localities to implement the 4-on-the-spot principle in flood prevention and control; assign forces to guard spillways when floods occur, absolutely do not let people and vehicles pass through flooded areas that endanger lives; raise people's awareness and responsibility in protecting their property and lives and those of their families when floods occur; move to a safe place if a bad situation occurs.
