Since January 2025, many martial arts teams have begun training for national missions. During a direct working session with the National High-Level Athlete Training Center, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized that the professional training and preparation of national sports teams at each center, including martial arts teams at the National High-Level Athlete Training Center, must be ensured to be the best. Vietnamese Sports has developed a specific program to prepare for and participate in the 33rd SEA Games 2025. In particular, martial arts are responsible for winning important Gold Medals.

“This year, our team is still preparing steadily. However, the 33rd SEA Games 2025 will face many difficulties and the team is very focused on ensuring that the key fighters in the important events are in good form to compete in Thailand in December,” said the coach of the Vietnamese wushu team, Mr. Phan Quoc Vinh. “The Vietnamese kickboxing team aims to compete at the 33rd SEA Games 2025. We are building core players focusing on specific events to achieve high performance in this participation,” said the President of the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation, Mr. Vu Duc Thinh.

At the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia, Vietnamese athletes in judo, taekwondo, wrestling, boxing, muay, pencak silat, karate, jujitsu, wushu, and kickboxing all won gold medals. In Cambodia at that time, the Vietnamese wrestling team achieved the best results with 13 championships, followed by the judo team (8 gold medals), the karate and wushu teams (both with 6 gold medals)... For the 33rd SEA Games-2025, the martial arts group of Vietnamese sports received the target number of gold medals to achieve from the manager of the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department. The specific target was not made public to ensure tactical secrecy.

Believe in the ability of martial arts athletes to succeed

The most prominent face in martial arts is boxer Ha Thi Linh (boxing) who will participate in the 33rd SEA Games-2025. Last March, Ha Thi Linh won the Bronze Medal at the 2025 Women's World Boxing Championship. She is actively training and is guaranteed the best regimen of a key boxer before getting ready to go to the 33rd SEA Games-2025. Ha Thi Linh is the current SEA Games champion in the women's 63kg boxing category.

Meanwhile, Duong Thuy Vi continues to have the opportunity to participate in the 33rd SEA Games - 2025. The number 1 female player of the Vietnamese wushu team won consecutive gold medals at the 31st and 32nd SEA Games, so she hopes to have the opportunity to make her mark in Thailand later this year. At the age of over 30, Duong Thuy Vi is determined to win the decisive medal before moving to coaching in the near future.

For the Vietnamese Muay team, world champion Huynh Ha Huu Hieu is a player with a chance to participate in the 33rd SEA Games-2025. The golden girl of Vietnamese Muay is training intensively to focus on the immediate goal of winning a medal at the 2025 Asian Muay Championship taking place in Vietnam (June 2025). After that, she will prepare for the 33rd SEA Games-2025.

Winning a medal in Muay Thai in the SEA Games is always considered to be of great value in the martial arts community. According to the data recorded at the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese martial arts teams won 85 Gold Medals (the total number of Gold Medals of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 31st SEA Games was 205). At the 32nd SEA Games, martial arts contributed 68 Gold Medals out of the 136 Gold Medals that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won. At the 33rd SEA Games-2025, the chances of success for the Vietnamese martial arts teams will not be small.

Vietnam women's futsal team first training session in China

On the afternoon of May 2, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had its first training session in Inner Mongolia (China) - where the 2025 Asian women's futsal finals will take place.

Sharing before the training session, head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said that the team had spent 4 weeks focusing and training in Vietnam, then had a week of advanced training in Japan.

After a thorough preparation period, the coaching staff has shortlisted and selected 14 players with the best form and fitness to compete in the continental tournament. “During the recent training period, the whole team has worked seriously and made clear progress. The athletes are currently in good spirits, in stable physical condition and ready to enter the tournament with high determination. Our first goal is to pass the group stage, from there calculate the next stage towards the inner rounds and the final round of the women's futsal world championship," coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang shared.

The first opponent of the Vietnamese women's futsal team in the final round of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship is the Hong Kong (China) team, who played well in the qualifying round. Hong Kong (China) is expected to cause many difficulties for coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team. However, the coaching staff has prepared many tactical plans and made adjustments to suit each specific opponent.

Regarding competition conditions, the weather in Inner Mongolia is currently colder than in Vietnam, but because they have trained in Japan in similar weather, the players can adapt faster and it does not affect their physical condition.

During the first training session in China, the team mainly practiced tactical exercises and assembled the squad to complete the framework for the friendly match with the Chinese women's futsal team, taking place tomorrow (May 3).
