Cancer prevention is still a big challenge for medicine in the world, not only requiring modern, updated knowledge and professional techniques from doctors, but also requiring efforts from the patients themselves, their families, and active support from society and the community.
Multimodality treatment is the combination of many methods to improve the effectiveness of cancer control. The 3 classic treatment methods (surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy) are increasingly showing their indispensable importance in cancer treatment.
At the 16 sessions of the Conference, domestic and international experts will discuss a number of key topics such as updating advances in diagnosis and treatment in radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, medical physics; hospital management in the digital age...
Speaking at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, shared that the National Cancer Conference is organized by the Vietnam Cancer Association and K Hospital every two years with different topics.
This year's conference with the theme "Multimodal treatment of cancer and hospital management in the digital age, ASCO 2024 update" is an opportunity to connect experts from all over the country and internationally to gather to share and exchange experiences as well as update the latest knowledge on multimodal treatment and hospital management with the hope of contributing to promoting professional qualifications, creating solidarity, finding a common voice for the cancer treatment profession to contribute more to cancer control.
Attending the workshop, the Deputy Minister of Health highly appreciated the Vietnam Cancer Association and K Hospital for their initiative and coordination with international organizations to organize this meaningful workshop with the aim of providing guidelines and strategies for cancer prevention while creating opportunities for comprehensive learning, sharing and exchange of experiences in the field of cancer treatment.
The Deputy Minister of Health also proposed a number of contents for the Vietnam Cancer Association, K Hospital and representatives of units and organizations attending the workshop to discuss:
Firstly, it is necessary to further promote the work of educating people about cancer prevention and early cancer screening. Early detection of cancer can be cured.
Second, continue to promote propaganda to call on people to continue to proactively and actively participate in health insurance to move towards universal health insurance because this is a lifesaver for people if they are unfortunate enough to get sick, especially cancer.
Third, it is necessary to strengthen the implementation of training and technology transfer in service packages as well as continue to maintain and support transferred techniques to avoid widespread training.
Fourth, hospitals need to continue to innovate their service attitude towards patient satisfaction, be more proactive in management, and be stricter in organization to ensure improved hospital quality, create prestige to attract people and patients to the hospital; consider patients as the center, take treatment effectiveness and patient satisfaction as a measure of value and a goal to strive for.
In addition to its responsibility as a core hospital, K Hospital needs to focus on coordinating with the Department of Health and provincial hospitals to build financial mechanisms, attract people to come for medical examination and treatment, reduce the burden on central hospitals, and allow people to enjoy good, highly specialized medical services right in their own locality, contributing to reducing treatment costs, reducing the burden of disease, creating trust and peace of mind for patients;
At the same time, attract Vietnamese people to receive medical treatment in Vietnam instead of going abroad for medical treatment, as well as attract foreigners to come to Vietnam for examination and treatment of cancer.
