On November 20, social media posted information that a male student who was swept away by floodwaters and rescued in the Tuy Hoa Post Office area, Dak Lak, was looking for his relatives.

The post was shared by many people in the hope that the boy would soon find his parents. The online community also praised the postal worker’s brave action to save people.

Tuoi Tre Online reporter contacted Ms. Duong Thi My Loi - Director of Tuy Hoa Post Office. She confirmed that post office staff rescued male student Pham Le Khanh (a 12th grade student at Nguyen Hue High School, Tuy Hoa Ward) at noon of the same day. Currently, the male student is staying with post office staff and has been provided with food and water.

"I gave my parents' phone number, but the water is still deep and there are power outages in many places, so I still can't contact my family. I'm staying with the post office staff. When the water recedes safely, I'll go home. Right now, I'm cleaning up mud and floodwater with us," said Ms. Loi.

According to Ms. Loi, when Khanh was struggling in the water, the postal staff on duty at the facility discovered him. Everyone quickly helped the male student. "Saving people is the top priority, we are very happy to help him be safe in this terrible flood," Ms. Loi said.

Pham Le Khanh said that on November 19, he went to his friend's house to play, but the floodwaters rose so quickly that he couldn't return in time. At noon on November 20, he waded back home, but was swept away by the floodwaters as soon as he reached Tran Hung Dao Street. At that time, Khanh only had time to hold on to an electric wire.

"I rushed home, afraid that my parents would worry. I didn't expect the water to be so high. When I waded to Tran Hung Dao Street near the post office, the water was up to my neck. Luckily, I grabbed onto an electric wire and was rescued by the post office staff.

I still can't contact my family, so I will stay here and return when things are stable. I'm very grateful to the post office staff, without them I don't know what would have happened," Khanh shared.
