Enhancing women's economic empowerment

- In recent years, models of livelihood support, vocational training, job creation, skills training and market connection have been helping thousands of women members in Chiem Hoa change their thinking and improve their lives.

Promote economic development

Identifying the need to improve women's economic mastery, contributing to the implementation of gender equality goals and socio-economic development of the locality, the Women's Union at all levels coordinates with units to organize training, vocational training, job counseling, and communication for members to help them access policies to support women in production development, start-ups, and businesses... In the district, the start-up movement among women members is increasingly vibrant with more than 90 economic models and nearly 40 typical faces. From 2024 to present, the District Women's Union has maintained 218 economic development models, built 4 new models, introduced jobs to 10 members (of whom 5 went to work abroad), organized vocational counseling classes such as bamboo planting, green-heart black beans... for more than 40 members. The Association also supported the construction of 4 new models and maintained 9 economic models with an income of over 100 million VND per year in the movement of women doing good business, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.

Ms. Ha Thi Hiem, a member of the women's union of Cay La village, Hoa Phu commune, earned tens of millions of dong in profit from the mushroom growing model.

Developing the economy from the bamboo leaf purchasing model for export, Ms. To Thi Tuyet, Thac Lua village, Hoa Phu commune said: “Thanks to participating in training courses and constantly researching and learning, we have started purchasing bamboo leaves and reselling them to businesses for export for nearly 4 years now, earning an average of nearly 200 million VND each time. Up to now, this model not only brings a stable source of income for the family but also creates regular jobs for more than 10 women in the village, helping them have a monthly income and feel secure in their homeland”.

Empowering Women

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tam, Chairwoman of the District Women's Union, said: "Communication work to raise awareness of gender equality has always been focused on by all levels of the union with many diverse and flexible forms. The content focuses on practical issues, close to life, especially creating income and economy for ethnic minority women and women in extremely difficult areas, thereby helping women to take control of their economy and escape poverty."

Women are supported in applying 4.0 technology in production and connecting markets for agricultural products; supported in implementing models of applying science and technology, helping women build product brands; providing technical advice and support to groups, helping women members better understand the application of technology in production and connecting markets for products produced by women themselves or local products.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan, Chairwoman of the Commune Women's Union, shared: “In the past two years, the Union has accompanied more than 2,000 female cadres and members in transferring science and technology in animal husbandry and cultivation - helping women increase productivity and improve income. Economic development models have also been focused on implementation, such as cooperatives for weaving conical hats, embroidering, and sewing ethnic costumes, bringing in a stable income of 4 - 5 million VND per month for many members. In 2024 alone, 24 members escaped poverty.”

Empowering women is not only a solution for economic development but also a key factor in building a prosperous, equal and progressive family. With the support of the government, the Women's Union organizations and the efforts of the women of Chiem Hoa themselves, they have contributed to creating a new and increasingly developed rural appearance.
