Mr. Vu The Binh - Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association emphasized the above content at the Seminar "Enhancing the value of VITA GREEN Green Tourism Label to become an international trading brand". organized by the Vietnam Tourism Association on August 14.
According to Mr. Vu The Binh, since 2018, the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) has launched a movement to reduce plastic waste, implementing the Green Tourism Criteria since 2019. To date, about 30 businesses have been certified with VITA GREEN, with the goal of reaching 100 businesses by the end of the year. However, the biggest challenge is to turn this green tourism label into a globally recognized standard.
Mr. Phung Quang Thang - Chairman of the Vietnam Green Tourism Association said that the plan to upgrade VITA GREEN focuses on standardizing the entire identification system and criteria according to international standards. The logo, slogan and user manual will have full versions in Vietnamese, English and moving towards other languages. The criteria will be referenced with global standards such as: GSTC, Travelife, Green Key, ensuring compatibility so that VITA Green businesses can easily integrate into the international supply chain.
At the same time, VITA will implement green tourism action programs; train, coach, and guide green tourism; build green tourism products; connect green tourism partners; sign cooperation agreements with international sustainable tourism organizations; attend international fairs and seminars on green tourism, etc.
At the Seminar, tourism businesses also pointed out the current situation, solutions and suggestions to enhance the value of Vietnam's green tourism label to become an international trading brand.
Ms. Tran Gia Ngoc Phuong - Deputy General Director of Furama - Ariyana Danang Furama Danang said that if they have the VITA GREEN green tourism label, and this green tourism label becomes a globally recognized standard, tourism businesses will have more advantages in negotiations; this is a key factor to improve competitiveness, expand distribution, access international markets and enhance their position in the sustainable tourism market.
According to Ms. Ha Thi Dieu Vien - General Manager of Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort, for a green tourism brand VITA Green to be able to trade internationally, it needs to meet the core requirements: International standards and evidence system (The criteria set needs to be compatible with international standards such as Travelife, Green Key...); Ability to integrate into the international supply chain; Commercial value and clear benefits for businesses; Community and sustainable impact, commitment to reducing emissions; Prioritizing local supply, preserving indigenous culture...
