On the evening of August 14th, reputable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the hashtag "Here we go" in relation to Neymar's move from PSG to Al-Hilal. Romano wrote on his personal page: "Following the huge offer revealed two days ago, the agreement has been approved by all parties involved. Neymar will travel to Saudi Arabia this week on a two-year contract. Neymar will wear the number 10 shirt at Al-Hilal. PSG will receive a transfer fee of no less than 100 million euros. Previously, L'Équipe confirmed that Neymar had agreed to a two-year contract with Al-Hilal, earning €160 million per season. This is significantly higher than his current salary of €40 million per season at PSG. A few days ago, news reports indicated Neymar wanted to leave PSG in the summer of 2023. The former Barcelona star was reportedly informed by coach Luis Enrique that he was no longer in PSG's plans. There were even rumors that Neymar would rejoin his former club, Barcelona, and accept a three-quarter pay cut.

Neymar holds the world record for the most expensive player transfer, having moved from Barcelona to PSG for €222 million. Neymar's move to the West Asian club Al-Hilal came as a major surprise to football experts, as the 31-year-old star is still at the peak of his form and has yet to win the Ballon d'Or as he had hoped. At Al-Hilal, Neymar will be alongside four other quality new signings: Malcom, Ruben Neves, Milinkovic-Savic, and Kalidou Koulibaly.
