"Russians have found a way to benefit from them. Moscow has managed to turn the tables on Western sanctions. These restrictions cannot bring about the collapse of the Russian economy ," Dmitry Peskov said.
However, Russian officials said Moscow will remain vigilant and closely monitor any sanctions imposed by the West.
In Mr. Peskov's view, it is impossible to predict how far Europe will be ready to go just to hurt Russia.
* Negotiations on the 12th package of sanctions that the European Union (EU) plans to impose on Russia have met with comprehensive opposition from Hungary. Specifically, negotiations on this package of sanctions are stalled right after the first debate.
According to The Guardian , the 12th package of sanctions includes restrictions on dozens of individuals such as the son of former Russian President Dimitry Medvedev or a relative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The proposed sanctions package also includes measures to cut off Moscow’s access to trade revenues. In particular, a complete ban on the sale of Russian diamonds and jewelry (made with precious stones from Siberian mines) in EU countries is expected to cost Moscow more than $4.91 billion a year.
In addition, the EU also proposed actions to tighten the oil price ceiling as well as efforts to "circumvent" sanctions.
* On November 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky introduced a package of sanctions against 37 groups and 108 individuals linked to Russia, including former Ukrainian officials.
The list includes former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and former Ukrainian Ministerof Education and Science Dmytro Tabachnyk.
Since Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine, the United States and its allies have imposed extensive sanctions on Moscow, mainly targeting the country's financial and energy sectors.
However, Western officials have repeatedly admitted that these sanctions have not achieved the expected significant results.
Speaking at a government meeting in September, President Vladimir Putin stressed: "Western sanctions have slowed down some of Russia's economic projects, but they are also stimulating economic growth."
