Russian President Vladimir Putin (right) and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban attend a joint press conference after talks at the Kremlin in Moscow, July 5. Speaking here, President Putin stated that there should be "no ceasefire or any kind of pause that the Kiev authorities could use to repair losses, regroup and rearm. Russia is in favor of a complete and final end to the conflict".
However, Putin noted that the Russia-Ukraine conflict can only end if certain conditions are met, such as Kiev withdrawing its forces from Donbass as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. There are other conditions, the Russian leader added, but these topics need to be "considered quite detailed in the process of joint cooperation." Meanwhile, Prime Minister Orban noted that Moscow and Kiev's views on the conflict are very different, so it will take considerable efforts to end the fighting. (Source: TASS)
US President Joe Biden speaks by phone as he arrives at Camp David with his wife, First Lady Jill, and his granddaughters Finnegan and Natalie, on June 29. After a debate performance that was considered a loss for Republican rival Donald Trump, Mr. Biden is being urged by many to step aside as the Democratic nominee and make way for someone else. The latest poll from the Wall Street Journal shows that the current US President's argument that he is the best candidate to defeat Mr. Trump may be crumbling, as evidence shows that Mr. Biden has failed to accomplish two basic tasks in the election campaign: consolidate support from the Democratic Party and create a favorable contrast with his opponent.
