Agribank leads the market in customer mobilization

According to the separate financial reports of the second quarter of 2024 of 30 commercial banks, credit growth in the first 6 months of the year of these banks reached 7.21%, with total loan capital reaching 12,328 trillion VND.

In the same period, the total amount of money mobilized from the population and economic organizations through these 30 banks reached VND12,309 billion, up 3.79% from the beginning of the year.

Four state-owned commercial banks (Agribank, VietinBank, Vietcombank, BIDV ) lead the market in capital mobilization. Total deposits as of June 30 reached VND6.36 million billion. Total loans and mobilization of this group accounted for 52% of total outstanding loans and mobilization of all 30 banks combined.

Because the five banks SCB, Dong A Bank, OceanBank, GPBank, and CB did not publish financial reports, the picture of the lending and mobilization market share of the industry mentioned is only relative.

Big4 banks lead in attracting money

In terms of total capital mobilized in the entire market, the four state-owned banks are in absolute leadership. Of these, Agribank continues to be the bank that people “choose to deposit money” the most with 1,837 trillion VND as of June 30.

The amount of money deposited in Agribank increased by 0.91%, but in total, the total capital mobilized at Agribank accounted for 14.9% of the market share of the entire banking industry.

BIDV ranked second in the industry in terms of total mobilized capital with VND 1,786 trillion, up 5.99% compared to the end of 2023 and accounting for 14.51% of the mobilization market share.

With VND1,464 trillion mobilized by the end of June, VietinBank ranked third, up 3.89%, holding 11.89% of the mobilization market share.

Although ranked fourth in terms of mobilized capital, up to 1,376 trillion VND, Vietcombank's customer mobilization decreased slightly by 1.81% compared to the end of last year. This "giant" is holding 11.17% of the mobilization market share.

Notably, although the deposit interest rates of the Big 4 group are always the lowest in the market, the fact that these banks lead in deposit market share shows that interest rates are not the most attractive factor for depositors.

The group of banks leading in lending market share also continued to lead in mobilization market share. In addition to the four state-owned banks, the Top 10 in mobilization also included MB with VND617,000 billion, up 8.34%; Sacombank with VND544,000 billion, up 7.5%; ACB with VND513,000 billion, up 6.15%; Techcombank with VND484,000 billion, up 5.84%; VPBank with VND473,000 billion, up 6.6% and SHB with VND455,000 billion, up 2.4%.

6 banks have decreased mobilization

In addition to Vietcombank, the group of banks with a decrease in mobilization compared to the end of 2023 also includes TPBank (down 2.5%), PVCombank (down 1.44%), Viet A Bank (down 0.34%), ABBank (down 14.52%) and Saigonbank (down 0.17%).

In terms of deposit growth, LPBank leads with an increase of more than 21%. MSB ranks second with a deposit growth of 14.65%. NCB achieved a growth of 11.16% compared to the end of 2023. The remaining banks all achieved a deposit growth of less than 10%.

In absolute terms, Saigonbank and PGBank are also the two banks ranked last in terms of mobilized capital in the first 6 months of the year, reaching VND 24,127 billion (down 0.1%) and VND 37,391 billion (up 4.65%), respectively.
