Preventing "party indifference, lack of union spirit, and political alienation"

Youth is a great social force, proactive, creative, leading in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland; playing an important role in the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration. Besides the great contributions of the youth, there is still a part that has decreased ideals and beliefs; falling into a state of "indifference to the Party, lack of Youth Union, distance from politics ".

“Party indifference” and “Union indifference” are simply understood as vagueness and deviation in perception; doubting the effectiveness of the Party’s leadership and the State’s management and administration; lacking faith in the resolutions and action programs of the Union at all levels; and being afraid to participate in Union activities.

This comes from many causes, from the family, school and society; the negative impacts of the market economy , international integration and the explosion of information technology. It also comes from the fact that the educational work of the Youth Union in some places is still scattered, broad but not deep, still heavy on formality, not keeping up with the rapid changes in the awareness and life of young people.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once emphasized: “A segment of young people has lost faith, lacks awareness of law enforcement, lives pragmatically, lacks ideals; shows signs of drifting away from the nation’s fine cultural traditions, falling into individualism. Although only a small segment, these manifestations need to be addressed to overcome, otherwise they will be the root cause of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” with many consequences for future generations.”

The Political Report of the 13th National Congress of the Party determined: “Strengthening education on revolutionary ideals, ethics, cultural lifestyle, enhancing patriotism, national pride, nurturing ambitions and aspirations to rise up; promoting the sense of responsibility towards the country and society; building an environment and conditions for studying, working, entertaining and training to develop healthily, comprehensively and harmoniously in terms of intelligence, physical strength and aesthetic values for the young generation”.

To proactively prevent and overcome the phenomenon of "indifferent Party" and "dry Youth Union", the Youth Union chapters at all levels of Thai Nguyen province have strengthened propaganda and education work. The focus is on implementing and studying the Party's directives and resolutions, the State's policies and laws; the action program to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, resolutions and thematic projects of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee; resolutions of Youth Union congresses at all levels, term 2022-2027 with many forms and rich content.

Along with that is the topic of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; enhancing moral education and cultural lifestyle for young people, forming the habit of "Living and working according to the Constitution and law".

In particular, the provincial Youth Union at all levels has promoted the volunteer movement, creative youth; accompanied young people in studying, starting a business and establishing a career... with many rich, diverse and practical forms to attract young people to actively participate in the activities of the Union.

In order to combat the manifestation of "party indifference", Thai Nguyen Provincial Youth Union has promoted solutions to improve the effectiveness of the campaign to encourage union members to strive to become members of the Communist Party of Vietnam; focusing on introducing outstanding union members who are direct production workers, students, rural youth, armed forces, young intellectuals, ethnic minority youth, religious youth, and grassroots union cadres for the Party to consider and admit.

In 2023 alone, the Youth Union chapters at all levels introduced 1,890 outstanding members and admitted more than 1,300 outstanding members to the Party. The work of training and admitting Party members among young union members in the province has a number of outstanding methods and results.

Specifically, such as organizing awareness training about the Party for outstanding young people before they leave for military service; strengthening the source creation and training of Party members from high school students. Localities that have done well are Dai Tu, Thai Nguyen City... or recently, Pho Yen City and Phu Binh District have admitted new Party members from students for the first time.

In 2023, the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee organized a thematic conference on the work of developing party members among students in the province. The fact that Comrade Nguyen Thanh Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, directly attended and presented party admission decisions to students at a number of schools in the area affirmed the special attention of the Provincial Party Committee on the issue of party development among students in particular and youth union members in general.

The consistent viewpoint in the work of Party building and rectification; preventing manifestations of "Party indifference", "Union dryness", "political alienation" among a section of the youth is to focus on doing well the work of "building" and "fighting", "using building to fight".

With a core role, youth organizations, in addition to doing a good job of ideological education and emulation movements, also need to increase the updating of official information so that union members have a correct understanding of the Party and State's guidelines and policies; promote their role in protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against the distorted arguments of hostile forces.
