Việt NamViệt Nam29/01/2025

In 2024, the Thai Nguyen Livestock industry maintained a fairly good growth momentum despite being significantly affected by storm No. 3. At the end of the year, the livestock production value was estimated at 7,710 billion VND, reaching 107.7% of the plan. This result was achieved because the Department of Livestock, Veterinary and Fisheries of the province consulted with the province and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to deploy many drastic and synchronous solutions in directing and effectively implementing activities in livestock production.

In addition to natural grazing, many households and cooperatives in the province have invested in raising buffalo and cows on a farm scale.
In addition to natural grazing, many households and cooperatives in the province have invested in raising buffalo and cows on a farm scale.

To develop stable livestock farming, the Department has consulted with the province to build concentrated production areas. Currently, Thai Nguyen has formed branded free-range chicken farming areas in the districts of Phu Binh, Dong Hy, Dinh Hoa; pig farming areas in Pho Yen city, Phu Binh district; cow farming areas in the districts of Dinh Hoa, Phu Binh, Dong Hy and Pho Yen city.

At the same time, a total ban on livestock farming was implemented in 5 wards of Thai Nguyen City and 27 residential groups of 4 districts and cities. To date, the number of livestock farming households that have stopped livestock farming is 520/608 households, reaching 85.6%. Localities are gradually implementing support policies for livestock farming owners when they stop livestock farming or relocate livestock farming facilities out of areas where livestock farming is not allowed in the province.

In addition, the Department has done a good job of managing breeding stock for 75 production facilities. Thanks to the good management of breeding stock, the quality of livestock and poultry in the province has been improved, the rate of foreign pigs, crossbred pigs with productivity and quality reached 76% of the total herd; the herd of Zebu crossbred cows and high-quality cows reached 68% or more; the herd of colored chickens with quality reached 87% of the total herd.

The number of pig and chicken farms that follow bio-security, disease safety, and food safety guidelines is 1,087, accounting for 65% of the total herd. Large, medium, and small-scale concentrated farms are 1,255, accounting for 50% of the total herd of livestock and poultry.
Every year, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries of the province releases fish in large lakes in the province to create aquatic resources.
Every year, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries of the province releases fish in large lakes in the province to create aquatic resources.

In addition, the Department also promotes the application of scientific and technological advances in livestock farming, disease prevention, food safety and the environment. For example, the Department has deployed the application of biotechnology to treat the environment in livestock farming (supporting 30 biological bedding models to treat livestock waste in pig and chicken farming).

At the same time, develop pig and chicken farming in chains, linked with slaughtering and product consumption. Up to now, the province has 76 cooperatives and cooperative groups for livestock production, 10 enterprises producing animal feed. Currently, there are over 20 chains of production - slaughtering, processing - consumption of livestock products, linking with livestock farms in supplying input materials, livestock techniques and product consumption...

It is worth mentioning that in the past year, the Department has supported the construction of a pork and chicken product chain in Phu Luong district. Up to now, the chains have basically completed the production, processing, and business processes linked to safe product chains and established a system for consuming safe pork and chicken products at markets, supermarkets, restaurants, and collective kitchens in the area...

In aquaculture development, the Department has conducted 6 rounds of sampling, monitoring and warning about the environment in aquaculture at 5 environmental monitoring sampling points in the province according to the planned schedule; implemented a program to protect and develop aquatic resources to regenerate aquatic resources in 4 large lakes; conducted appraisal and granted a certificate to 1 aquaculture facility that meets food safety conditions...

It can be affirmed that, after a difficult year, livestock farming activities in the province still maintained a stable growth momentum. Thai Nguyen did not have any major outbreaks, livestock herds were safely protected, the output of fresh meat for slaughter was estimated at 236.4 thousand tons, exceeding the plan by 6.1%; the output of aquatic products of all kinds was estimated at 19,000 tons, equal to 100% of the plan...

This result will be a solid foundation for the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries to continue to successfully complete its tasks in 2025. Some key tasks include: Organizing the implementation of Resolution No. 12/2020/NQ-HDND dated December 11, 2020 of the Provincial People's Council on regulating areas within the inner city of cities, towns, and residential areas where livestock farming is not allowed and support policies when livestock farming activities are stopped or livestock facilities are relocated out of areas where livestock farming is not allowed in Thai Nguyen province; Decision No. 28/2022/QD-UBND dated December 16, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on regulating livestock density in Thai Nguyen province until 2030.

Along with that, it is necessary to strengthen the management of livestock facilities according to the Law on Animal Husbandry; inspect, monitor and handle cases of using banned substances in livestock farming and slaughtering; inspect and evaluate conditions for animal feed production, livestock farming conditions...

In addition, building disease-free facilities and areas; production chains in pig and chicken farming associated with slaughtering, processing and consumption of products; applying digital technology to manage livestock and aquaculture activities to serve traceability; well managing the quality and safety of materials for livestock and aquaculture products, especially the quality of breeds, animal feed, biological products used in livestock and aquaculture; continuing to strengthen inspection and examination of State management of livestock, veterinary medicine and aquaculture; strictly handling violations according to regulations...
