Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training does not accept opening flowers, calls for support for flood victims

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just sent a document to departments, branches, unions, organizations, businesses and all educational institutions in the city about not accepting congratulatory flowers on the occasion of the opening of the 2025-2026 school year.

Accordingly, in order to implement the Directives and Resolutions of the Party and State on practicing thrift and combating waste, during the preparation and organization of the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training informs all educational institutions in Ho Chi Minh City to proactively limit the use of fresh flowers in stage areas, podiums, school gates, etc. Only use flowers in places that are truly necessary to create highlights, ensuring aesthetics without being ostentatious or wasteful.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City does not accept congratulatory flowers in any form from agencies, organizations, businesses, parents and individuals attending and congratulating the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year.

Units need to proactively and widely announce this policy to partners, parents, etc. in many forms such as documents, announcements on websites, bulletin boards, social networks, etc.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, in recent days, people in the mountainous and midland provinces of the North and North Central regions have suffered severe consequences caused by storms No. 4 and No. 5.

To accompany and share those difficulties, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requested educational institutions in the city to launch a movement to support people in flood-affected areas.

At the same time, guide and encourage units and individuals to convert the form of congratulations into practical contributions to the school's scholarship fund or join hands to support compatriots facing difficulties due to natural disasters, according to the general call of the industry.
