According to Mr. Pham Van Rach, Vice Chairman of Ba Vinh Commune People's Committee, people were evacuated to the cultural house of Nuoc Sung village (old) and Hoc Do village. Previously, local authorities discovered a large crack at the foot of Go Oat mountain, about 1.2km from the residential area. Through inspection, it was determined that there were two dangerous landslides, including a crack 50m long, 0.6m wide, 0.5-1m deep, with a slope of up to 45%, accompanied by many abnormal underground water flows and scattered boulders.

The locality has arranged forces to be on duty 24/7, and at the same time requested departments and branches to promptly survey and handle the landslide area. In the long term, the commune proposed the province to support the construction of resettlement areas to stabilize people's lives.

According to the Department of Irrigation of Quang Ngai province, due to the impact of storm No. 12 (storm Fengshen), the past two days in the area have had very heavy rain, with average rainfall of 100-300mm, concentrated in the eastern part of the province, increasing the risk of flooding, landslides and flash floods.

On the same day, Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang signed an urgent dispatch, requesting departments, branches and localities to immediately deploy measures to respond to storms and heavy rains, especially evacuating people from riverside areas, low-lying areas and mountain slopes at high risk of landslides.

The province pays special attention to vulnerable areas such as: Rook Met village (Dak Plo commune), Xo Thac village (Mang But commune), Go Khon village (Ba Dinh commune), Tra Linh village (Tay Tra Bong commune), Go Oat mountain area (Ba Vinh commune)...

Besides, Localities are required to deploy guards, put up warning signs in dangerous areas, temporarily suspend ferry operations, and strictly prohibit people from collecting firewood or fishing on the river when the storm hits. At the same time, organize inspections and review of the safety of reservoirs, especially irrigation and small hydroelectric reservoirs such as Ong Toi Lake and Phuong Hoang Lake - projects that show signs of deterioration or potential safety risks.
