These days, the North-South Expressway project in the East, Van Ninh-Cam Lo section through Quang Binh province, is being paved with the final layers of asphalt by the construction unit. On the route, hundreds of cadres, engineers, workers, and many machines and vehicles are urgently working. This component project will open the main route to traffic on June 30. There is not much time left, the workers work through the holidays, working day and night, regardless of holidays.

Engineer Tran Khanh Toan, Truong Thinh Group - the contractor on the route said: "To ensure the assigned plan and achieve the progress set by the investor, the contractor has fully mobilized equipment, materials and workers to work during the holidays of April 30 - May 1 to ensure progress in the days preparing to finish the project. To increase working hours, the unit has timely policies for workers to encourage them to work enthusiastically in production".

The North-South Expressway project in the East, Van Ninh-Cam Lo section, is 65.5km long, of which the section passing through Quang Binh province is about 33km long, invested by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board. Currently, at locations where asphalt has been completed, contractors are focusing on constructing the up and down roads, handling anti-slip treatment of positive slopes and installing guardrails. In recent days, contractors have mobilized vehicles and human resources to work in "3 shifts, 4 teams" during the holiday.

Despite the hot weather, workers are still working hard on the line to complete the project on schedule.

Mr. Luu Tuan Tuan, representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, informed that the Van Ninh - Cam Lo route through Quang Binh province has basically completed asphalting, and the units have accelerated construction to open to traffic on June 30: "The difficulties and obstacles of the project up to this point have basically been resolved by the local authorities. In some cases of land clearance problems, the local authorities have taken drastic action. To ensure the quality of the project, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board and the supervision consultant are always present at the construction site to grasp the problems, promptly direct the construction contractor to ensure the quality, progress and efficiency of the project. Strive to speed up the locations that are behind schedule, and closely direct to ensure the completion of the project".

In June 2025, the Vung Ang-Bung Component Project is also expected to be completed and the main route opened to traffic. This project is more than 55km long through Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces, and the construction progress is currently about 90%. This project is invested by Project Management Board 6, with 2 main packages, constructing 33 bridges, 1 tunnel through the mountain, Deo But tunnel, more than 1.5km long, 406 culverts, 37 underpasses for people... By early May 2025, the construction value was 7,748 billion VND, reaching 90% of the progress.

Currently, there are 40 construction teams, more than 1,200 workers and 620 pieces of equipment working at the construction site. Deo But tunnel alone has opened both branches, reaching 99% of the tunnel excavation volume. However, some items such as road surface, railings, and safety fences are still behind schedule. Worker Lo Van Phong, from Dien Bien province, who is working on the route, said that it is currently the hot season, the workers are working hard but this is a favorable condition to speed up the construction progress: "During the working process, we work from 6am to 10am in the morning, from 1:30am to 5:30pm in the afternoon, and there are also night shifts and overtime. The company also supports a lot, thanks to that, the spirit of the workers is very enthusiastic to work to meet the progress set by the superiors."

Up to now, Quang Binh province has handed over 100% of the main route for the construction of the Eastern North-South Expressway Project, however, there are still 31 people in Quang Trach district and Ba Don town along the route who have not yet handed over, affecting the construction of protective fences and service roads. Project Management Board 6 has requested the Ministry of Construction and the People's Committee of Quang Binh province to direct the locality to urgently complete the site clearance to ensure the route is opened on June 30, 2025 as planned.

Mr. Hoang Dang Cuong, Director of the Department of Construction of Quang Binh province, said that the locality is coordinating with the investor and the construction unit to resolve the issue and strive to complete the project on schedule. “Regarding the construction progress, the Department of Construction has also proactively worked with the investor and the construction unit and the localities have also completed the resolution of problems such as underpasses, drainage systems, and technical infrastructure systems on the route. The problems have been resolved to hand over to the investor and coordinate with the investor to ensure the proposed progress.”
