Today (August 18), the Ministry of Education and Training will organize the 2nd and 3rd virtual screening nationwide. In the first virtual screening held yesterday, the general opinion of many universities was that the rate of virtual candidates was still high, making the expected benchmark scores inaccurate.
Schools are still "probing" the admission scores and continuing to calculate for future adjustments.
Virtual filtering is the process that the Ministry of Education and Training and universities and colleges carry out to determine the admission score and the number of students recruited for each major and training program in accordance with the announced quota, but not lower than the input threshold.
The purpose of this is to ensure that universities recruit enough students and avoid fake candidates.
The detailed process of virtual filtering is implemented internally. Universities will receive data from the Ministry, adjust the expected benchmark to meet the quota, then re-enter the adjusted data into the system for nationwide virtual filtering.
This process happens multiple times. After each virtual filtering, schools only get an initial overview of their own results, not the final benchmark score.
Some universities may provide an estimated cut-off score for testing purposes, but this is not an official cut-off score. This score can change continuously after each virtual filter.
The benchmark is only officially announced once after the entire virtual filtering process is completed. Therefore, candidates cannot view the virtual filtering results of each filtering round but must wait for the training institution to announce the first round of admission results according to the general schedule.
According to the schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training, universities can announce their benchmark scores from the afternoon of August 20 and the first round of admission results must be announced no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 22.
In 2025, the general admission system recorded more than 7.6 million registered wishes, accounting for more than 73% of the total number of candidates. On average, each candidate selected nearly 9 wishes.
