On March 15, the People's Procuracy of Cai Nuoc district, Ca Mau province, held a public apology and correction session for the wrongly convicted person, Mr. Tran Van Khang (37 years old; residing in Tan Hai commune, Phu Tan district, Ca Mau province) at his residence.
Here, Mr. Ho Tan Phap, acting Chief Prosecutor of Cai Nuoc District People's Procuracy, said that the reason for Mr. Khang's wrongful conviction was that the prosecution agencies' assessment of evidence was not objective and comprehensive.

"The prosecuting agencies of Cai Nuoc district have recognized the violations and consequences of the violations caused by the public servants to Mr. Khang's family. This is a huge loss of spirit and honor for Mr. Khang and his family that cannot be compensated for. On behalf of the prosecuting agency, I sincerely apologize to Mr. Khang and hope that he will soon overcome difficulties to stabilize his life," said Mr. Phap.
Previously, on August 2, 2016 and September 26, 2016, the Investigation Police Agency of Cai Nuoc District Police initiated a criminal case and prosecuted Mr. Tran Van Khang for the crime of "Violating regulations on road traffic participation" occurring in Tran Thoi Commune, Cai Nuoc District. The above decision was approved by the People's Procuracy of this district.
However, through investigation and prosecution, the prosecution agency found that there was no crime. On July 1, 2021, the People's Procuracy of Cai Nuoc district issued a decision to suspend the case against the defendant Tran Van Khang.
Mr. Khang accepted the apology and asked the authorities to be more impartial to avoid similar situations. At the same time, he hopes that the People's Procuracy of Cai Nuoc district will soon compensate for the losses he has suffered over the years.
