At about 1:26 a.m. on October 12, at Binh Hang Tay market (in hamlet 3B, Binh Hang Trung commune, Dong Thap province), a fire broke out, causing damage to about 9 kiosks.

The fire at Binh Hang Tay market has been extinguished.

Chairman of Binh Hang Trung Commune People's Committee Huynh Minh Phu said that after receiving the report from the people, the Commune Police force of 10 officers and soldiers quickly arrived at the scene to organize fire fighting. Participating in the fire fighting were also the grassroots security force including members of 2 inter-family fire safety and firefighting teams, civil defense forces, and about 50 people, using on-site fire prevention and firefighting equipment such as: wall fire hydrant system, fire alarm system and 20 portable fire extinguishers of the Market Management Board, 15 fire extinguishers of 2 inter-family fire safety and firefighting teams; 1 mobile fire pump of the Public Fire Station...

Afterwards, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Team No. 11 and 2 fire trucks arrived at the scene and deployed their firefighting formation. At 1:50 a.m., the fire was brought under control and prevented from spreading to other areas; at about 2:00 a.m. the same day, the fire was completely extinguished.

Leaders of Binh Hang Trung commune quickly visited, encouraged and gave money to support small traders who suffered losses due to the fire at Binh Hang Tay market.

The fire was extinguished, causing no human casualties but affected about 9 kiosks, mainly selling fabrics, clothes, and school supplies. The leaders of Binh Hang Trung commune quickly arrived to direct the coordination of fire fighting; visited, encouraged, and supported small traders who suffered losses due to the fire.

The cause and extent of damage of the fire are being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
