Of these, about 375 are in the Netherlands, 80 in Germany, 35 in Belgium, four in Argentina and two in Australia.

His "battle" to become a father began in 2007. He was only 42 years old at the time, having registered as a sperm donor at 11 clinics and at the Cryos International Sperm Bank, according to the Mirror .

He also participates in Facebook groups for women and infertile couples.

For years, Mr. Meijer lied to everyone. He told each clinic that he was the only one donating there, and he told each expectant mother that he had only about 10 children.

When asked why he wanted so many children, Mr. Meijer replied: I wanted to do something meaningful with my life.

He added: It's true that I lied to the women. I was wrong. But I wanted to help them.

Cryos sperm bank sold his donated sperm for about $1,400 per sample, but Meijer claimed he did it for free.

I don't ask for anything, but sometimes I receive a little money, a plane ticket or a camera as a gift, he said.

In 2023, he was sued by the Donorkind Foundation, an organization that helps children born through sperm donation find their biological parents, over concerns about involuntary incest between the children.

His "battle" to become a father began in 2007. He was only 42 years old then, having registered as a sperm donor at 11 clinics and at the Cryos International Sperm Bank.

The court said this created a “huge kinship network, with hundreds of half-siblings” and that the children could suffer negative psychosocial consequences as a result.

In April 2023, a civil court in The Hague (Netherlands) ruled that he could no longer donate sperm. If he re-offends, he will be fined about $108,000 for each violation.

But a recent ruling allows him to continue donating to parents whose children he donated, so Mr. Meijer continues to donate to them.

"What Mr. Meijer is doing is irresponsible! According to the verdict, he had 550 pigs, I'm afraid he wants to set a record, maybe he has 1,000 pigs now!", Ties van der Meer, CEO of the Donorkind Foundation, 44, told German media.
