Mr. Gioi is sad because his passion fruit garden, which he spent a lot of time taking care of, was destroyed by thieves overnight.

On March 30, Mr. Pham Van Hao - Chairman of the People's Committee of Kon Giang commune, Dak Doa district, Gia Lai said that the police are investigating and clarifying the incident where the entire passion fruit garden of Mr. Nguyen Van Gioi's family (born in 1987, residing in Kon Gang commune) was destroyed by thieves.

Accordingly, on the afternoon of March 27, Mr. Gioi and his wife installed drip irrigation nozzles for the passion fruit garden with 61 trees that were preparing for harvest.

However, at around 9am on March 28, Mr. Gioi returned to the garden and was shocked to discover a series of passion fruit trees with unusually wilted leaves. Upon closer inspection, Mr. Gioi found that the base of the passion fruit trees had been severed. A series of fresh passion fruit fruits that were only 15 days away from being ready for harvest gradually withered and fell to the ground.

The passion fruit root was severed and could not be restored.

In addition to chopping down the passion fruit, the garden's drip irrigation nozzle was also stolen. There were traces of scissors and machetes at the scene .

Mr. Gioi shared that in September 2024, the couple discussed and borrowed a few dozen million more from the bank to plant seeds and invest in this passion fruit garden. “On average, a lemon tree will yield about 30kg of fruit per crop. If well cared for, it will yield 3-4 harvests per year. At the current price, my family's passion fruit garden has suffered a loss of about 60 million VND,” Mr. Gioi calculated.

Mr. Gioi affirmed that he has never had any conflicts with anyone, nor any land disputes.

The case is currently being handled and investigated by the Criminal Police Department, Gia Lai Provincial Police.
