To celebrate Buddha's birthday, the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Ho Chi Minh City organized a procession carrying the statue of the newborn Buddha from An Quang Pagoda to Vietnam National Pagoda on the evening of May 5th.
This event marks the beginning of the Buddha's Birthday Week, Buddhist calendar 2569.
The procession of the infant Buddha started from the Ấn Quang ancestral temple, passing through Sư Vạn Hạnh, Ngô Gia Tự, Điện Biên Phủ, Cao Thắng, and Ba Tháng Hai streets, before returning to the main ceremonial platform at Việt Nam Quốc Tự temple.
Leading the procession were the incense-carrying palanquin, the national flag, and the Buddhist flag; followed by groups carrying banners, canopies, ceremonial objects, and Buddha palanquins; monks; and flower-decorated floats from the various committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Ho Chi Minh City and the 21 districts, counties, and Thu Duc City.

Crowds of people lined the streets, watching and cheering as the procession carrying the Buddha statue passed by.
The delegation included over 40 artists along with thousands of monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers, such as: artists Trinh Kim Chi, Le Tu, Ha Nhu, Binh Tinh; actors Quoc Truong, Van Trang, Hong Trang, Huynh Lap, Lam Vy Da, Hua Minh Dat, Thuan Nguyen, Le Loc, Le Khanh, Gia Huy, Tieu Minh Phung, Thai Chi Hung;
Singers Nhat Kim Anh, Anh Tu, Ly Ly, Dong Quan, Diep Lam Anh, Thu Thuy, Phuong My Chi; Mr. Vietnam Tuan Ngoc; Misses Le Hoang Phuong, Tieu Vy; runners-up Thanh Ngan, Bui Khanh Linh, Kieu Loan, Bich Tuyen, Ngoc Hang, Cam Ly; musician Chau Dang Khoa…
Lam Vy Da shared that she and Hua Minh Dat were delighted to participate in the procession carrying the statue of the Buddha's birth amidst the sacred colors of Vesak 2025.
Mr. Vietnam Tuan Ngoc said he participated in the procession carrying the statue of the Buddha's birth to spread the spirit of compassion, wisdom, and peace to everyone.
At Vietnam National Pagoda, Venerable Thich Le Trang, head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association in Ho Chi Minh City, performed the ritual of bathing the Buddha statue. This is one of the main ceremonies of the Buddha's birthday celebration.
